FAQ about the Disney Dining Plan

I paid for my Disney Dining Plan Aug. 18-24, so now I'm interested in what the AAA rate for a room @ POP for those nites would be??? Thanks , if anyone knows that rate . :flower:

Another thing to consider is that from Aug 21 on, Disney is pricing the free dining room stay as 'value season' even though it is regular season so you probably would save more money just switching for this reason. You can go to the Disney web site and price it out under their Stay, Play and Dine promotion (which is the free dining). I would also say do a stlit stay like HaleyB suggested if you can avoid a fee.

If your package is like mine, there is a change fee of $60 after 45 days before your stay. I wonder if you could change your first 3 days (8/18 - 8/21) to the AAA rate and then cancel the last 3 days and re-book them under the free dining plan. It would be worth the $60 change fee, IMO. Talk to CRO today and see if they have availability for what you want to do and if you can change to the AAA rate without having to cancel your whole reservation ($100 fee). Even if you cancel the last 3 days and re-book it would be less to pay the change fee than for the meal plan. Good luck and keep us updated!

If you choose to save the MYW ticket like HaleyB suggested, you need to buy the kind of ticket that will not expire, and that is an additional charge. You may choose to use the ticket and save the $$.

i can tell you this as it happened to me.

i booked the AAA rate for the allstars for the room and bought the myw tickets separate in march.

when the dining program came out, i had to cancel my AAA and do the disney package. it cost me 170 more to do it the disney way. for 10 nights, 11 days , it is worth it for me.

for value season, the AAA room rate is $61 a night. +tax.
if you buy your tickets thru AAA, there is a discount.
it is about the same when buying from disney in advance. discount on tickets if you buy them before you check in. i saved $16 that way.

i did not have any penalty or add on to switch programs. the cm told me only a certain number of rooms are eligible for the AAA rate. once i cancel it and switch to a package, i may not get the AAA back if i changed my mind.

change my mind.......are they crazy????? i will spend more than $170 on food during my vacation time there.

the AAA office in ga. has great discounts for the package and the dining is included. check them out. there was a thread on it some months ago.
people from new york were able to get it and posted about it.

One day admission tickets are automatically 'no expiration'... since they will 'expire' on the actual day that they are used. There is no additional cost. You only need to add the no expiration option if you purchase multiple day passes, activate those passess by using one or more days off of them, and then want to be able to save the remaining days for a future trip. ;)

Thanks for all the valuable information on this thread. I didnt get to read all the post so if this is dupiplicate sorry. WE paid for our 10 yr DS an adult admission to WDW. Why does he have to order off the childs menu?

He doesn't. Ages 3-9 have to order off the childrens menu, ages 10 and up order from the adult menu. You may have to tell your server your son is 10, unless he looks older. I am sure when mine turns 10 I will need to point it out to all of them because he is so small for his age.

I read on a much earlier post that the dining plan credits are good til midnight the day you checkout.

How can that be? If I *pay* for 5 nights for which I am staying, how can the 6th day include anything from that plan?

Can you please clarify for me? thanks alot.
just to add what I was told from a CM, you don't get actual credits for that day but whatever you haven't used from that 5 nights is good up til midnight of the day you check out.

I have directed so many people to this thread. Most questions are answered here! Why isn't this a "sticky" at the top of the restaurant board - at least for awhile?

And another reminder: Remember to read this document regarding the dining plan straight from the Disney website: Disney Dining Plan info. It answers a LOT of questions by clearly stating information regarding how buffets work (i.e., you get the included buffet dessert - not an additional different one off the menu), what age children must order from the children's menu, what restaurants participate, what is included, etc.

Finished venting. Sorry.

I am going in September, and my daughter is 11, so we're paying the adult price, but we're eating at Boma one night. Does she get the kid's price there and if so, can I just pay out of pocket? I read the whole thread and didn't see a definate answer on the age range for "child" on the buffets.

We are eating at Cape May also-any age range known on that one? :dog:

Any one know if you can get a turkey leg with CS credit?
We were allowed in July but it's not a good value for your CS meal.

I just posted this question seperately, but I'll ask it here too !! Can I pay for a counter service meal with a table service credit ? I have paid for a DMW Dining Plan for mid Aug.and I think that one night we just may be too tired to go for a sit down meal and perhaps would rather sit by the pool and use the food court, instead? Any ideas on that ???
Yes you can. You will lose value but gain flexibility. If was me I would pay OOP for the CS that night and plan a signature resturant(sp?) for another night. Say CG or Artist Point.

Kids meals just changed to 3-9 yr olds. 10 yr olds and up pay adult prices.

Pepper Market at CSR has a wider (and pricier)
variety of dishes than the other resort food courts. Do counter service credits count towards these more expensive entrees, or are TS credits deducted when you order a meal here for lunch?

I am kind of confused why the person who asked the original question is concerned about age on buffets when she is getting the dining plan?
No matter what you are charged for a buffet out of pocket, you get to eat all of the food offered, kid's selections or not. If you paid adult prices for the dining plan, you can eat at a buffet no matter what it costs for adults or children and eat any of the foods.

An 11 year old would be charged either an adult TS credit on the plan, or an adult price oop, so I think using the credit is a better value.
Am I catching on to the question or not?

We've made this thread a sticky thread so that it will stay at the top of the page for easy access. Enjoy, and happy planning! :)

Pepper Market is CS, even for items such as steak. I've read that they do limit the dessert options though.

question about ordering the dining plan.
i have a package holiday booked from the UK next summer with Virgin Holidays,
i rang them when i found out about the dining plan, but they said they dont do it and i will have to add it when i arrive in the resort, but the resort say it has to be added before arrival.
does anyone know how i can book it,what prices and phone numbers to arrange it

it needs to be linked to your stay, and disney will not let u upgrade on arrival or seperately as I tried, but u could always call them and see if they will for next year, I did email them and had a disney travel agent involved as well but they wouldn't budge this year pm me if u want an email adress to use for them :sunny:
