FAQ about the Disney Dining Plan

Dumb question here !!!! What exactly does the above mean.... :confused3

Bump & sticky
Bump (v.) - to post a reply to a topic so that it moves back to the top of the first page of the message board, just under the permanently pinned topics (see sticky below), and is thus easier to find than possibly having to search through several pages of topics

(Ex., I'm going to bump this thread by posting a reply so that I can easily find it again when I get home and want to show it to my wife.)

Sticky (adj.) - being permanently pinned to the top of each page of the appropriate message board; it is done so that the affected topic does not get pushed down the list of other topics and eventually fall off of Page 1, where it can be easily overlooked or lost; sticky status can only be granted by a board Moderator

(Ex., I hope the moderators make this topic sticky so that I can easily find it every time I visit the Disney Restaurants forum.)

Thanks Scot.......I was driving myself crazy trying to figure out what Bump and Sticy were....... :flower:

HDDR is all you can eat and all you can drink. How do these types of shows factor into the free dining? I know you must use 2 ts credits for this. Does this include alcohol also? Just wondering if HDDR was the only one that includes Alcohol are there any other dinner shows that include alcohol and how does this work with dining?

Has anyone else been able to get milkshakes, etc. with meals? I understand souvie cups, boozie drinks, etc. aren't covered, but unsure of the true definition of "non-alcoholic beverage"

Is this limited to milk, juice, soda, water and coffee? Or are most beverage options free game? I mean, the food will be more than enough so I probably won't even want a thick drink like a shake...

but Whispering Canyon bottomless milkshakes? Yumm.....

Thanks for all the tips so far! :Pinkbounc

It probably depends on the CM but WCC considers the milkshake a dessert.

NO Whispering Canyon considers the milkshake a DRINK not a dessert! There was someone that posted that they were going to have the milkshake as dessert for the plan and couldn't.

We had milkshakes at WCC and at least 2 other places. We had root beer floats and coke floats at 50's prime time. We had the Blue Fizz and Hoist the Flag drinks at Yacht Club Galley, we had another drink that was red, white and blue - called Luau something or other at Shutters. All free with the plan. As long as there is not alcohol in it, it is covered. No idea about HDDR and alcohol being included... we don't drink alcohol

So, at a table service, all sorts of drinks count. We didn't try at counter service, stuck to drinks for the kids or coke for us then.

Does anybody know if we can us the DD plan at the Swan/Dolphin?

I have just finished reading all 21 pages on this post and haven't seen the question answered about using a TS ticket for a CS meal. My son wants to just order a counter service meal from Captain Cook's at the Polynesian using his table service ticket. Is that possible? Thank you for all your expert help.

Several people have said they have done this, and that it was fine. It is also reported on www.mousesavers.com as being an option and Mary is very reliable for information. So I feel pretty safe saying "Yes" you can, even though I do not have first hand experience.

So are you saying you can order those drinks with souviner cups/mugs or glow-in-the dark cubes...but only have to pay for the souviner portion? Do they list those prices?

I don't think so. I remember reading that they aren't counted as true Disney resorts as far as perks, etc. Hopefully someone else can give you a more definitive answer :)

Hi - Not sure if this specific question has been addressed in this thread. I've read most of it and haven't found the answer. I'm scheduled for MYW plus dining in September. Myself, dh, ds (3) and dd(almost 2). Well - I guess it was stupid of me - but I didn't realize that dd will NOT be getting meals for free. When they read back to me everything that is included, they said - 2 meals and one snack a day for everyone. So I had no idea that she was getting nothing included. I just spoke with CM and they told me that there is no way to even add on a kids' meal plan for a 1 year old. She's not a baby- she eats (sometimes a lot - sometimes nothing - just like most toddlers) - and I'm sure in many cases we can split meals and just buy extra fruit on the side. BUT- I'm curious if anyone has found an inexpensive way to get meals for an 'infant' through the plan?

I'm really disappointed because I was planning on budgeting close to nothing for food - but paying for one extra meal (or just extra side items) each time we eat- that will add up. Still a good deal, but I'm disappointed.

Thoughts?
THANKS!
Karen

If your going in September, you should call right away & see if you can get the free dining added to your package. Its code YMP.

The best was for the DD to eat would be at a buffet but I think with the dining plan there will be plenty to share with her.

Thank you so much for your answer. I went to the Mousesavers website and indeed it did say you could use table service credit for counter service. If it is on Mousesavers, I feel the information is correct as well. Thanks again for your reply.

No, price is not listed seperately, you are paying for the suvenier and the drink is free. You will pay the same as anyone else who buys those items.

In my review I had this situation. We had NO problem feeding our 2 1/2 yr old dd off of our foods. LOts of times the 5 yr old ate parts of everyones and the 2 1/2 yr old had her own. This was not a problem. Read my review http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=805780 and you will see how we worked it. We spent extra only on Main Street Bakery pastries, frozen cokes and frozen lemonades. We never paid for our toddler to eat, and she and us never went hungry in the least.

Hi All,
We will be making our first trip to Disney on Sep 30th and we will be using the disney dining plan. My question is does anyone know if you still have to use a credit card to make a reservation at the crt or any other disney character meals?

Thanks for the info

yes, you still give the cc number, but they don't charge it at all unless you are a no show.

Catherine~

If you do Hoop Dee Doo or Mickey's Backyard BBQ you will need to give a CC also.

Other than those three you do not need to provide a CC#.
