FAQ about the Disney Dining Plan

Okay, maybe I'm a little slow, what do you mean "per person, no matter how many"?

We had 3 people, but only wanted to order 2 meals, because I wasn't very hungry, and the CM told us he would still charge us for 3 meals.

I believe this is the true policy if you are dining at a buffet or character meal...where you you dining when this happened? Otherwise, you should only be charged for what you order.

I think this must be because this was a lunch buffet right? This is exactly what I said about Boma. This should not happen at a regular TS.

It's my understanding that on a receipt, the meals you've used credits for are listed as A1, C2, or some such. If my two kids and I order meals at a restaurant that doesn't have a kids' menu, like Pizza Planet, do I need to inform them that the meals are for one adult and two children, or do the credits automatically come off the adult tally or off the children's tally? I know the credits are still pooled, but with what I've read here that they might eventually fix the pooling loophole, and with the occasional vigilante CM, I'm worried that I'll wind up an adult credit or two short. Thanks in advance!

As of August, receipts only showed how many total credits you had left of that type on your card (i.e. CS or TS or Snack) and did not list them as adult or child. What will happen in the future, who knows, but as of August, no.

As of 11/12 credits were ALL pooled. It only shows how many in total you have left.

Thank you, DisneyMom5 and kimmbagley . But haven't I read that there is some sort of breakdown of adult vs. children's credits at the bottom of your receipt when you pay? I was wondering which tally the meals come out of at restaurants without kids' menus.

The only tally we had was the total number of credits remaining. There was me, DH, DD13 and DD9. Our key said A03C01, but it was never split up like that on any receipt. We also never tried to order DD9 an adult TS, but we always got her adult CS.

Hmm... I would have sworn at one point I read there was a separate tally on the receipts. Oh well, I'm obviously on information overload at this point-- 12 more days!!!

Nope it was dinner, before it was a character meal, and it was not a buffet. We ordered individual apps, entrees, and desserts off the regular menu.

The CM also mentioned that he would let us know if there was anything we couldn't order b/c we were on the plan, but he didn't say anything when we ordered.

Maybe he was having a bad day, but he gave terrible service that meal, probably one of the worst of the trip.

Hi all!

I have a question about using the dining plan...I will be going to WDW in January with my DBF and his family (6 adults, 1 child). The problem is that my DBF is the pickiest eater you'll ever meet, and I think for almost all of our TS meals, he won't eat a thing off the adult menu, even if he can order it "plain" (FYI, he's 24). So, does anyone know if he would be able to order a child's meal, but an "adult-sized" version? For example, if we go to Le Cellier for dinner, can he order an "adult-sized" cheeseburger, even though there isn't a cheeseburger on the adult menu for dinner, since there's one on the kid's dinner menu?

I'm trying to figure out what he's going to eat the whole time we're there, since you can't exchange TS for CS meals. Maybe he'll just starve.

Many people have reported using TS credits for CS meals. It depends, but they will usually let you go down.

I am planning to go to disney for 15 days (maybe with Virgin) but I will be going alone and don't want the dining plan for the whole stay is it worth it for a single visitor and does it matter if you have booked your holiday with a british travel company?

I am sorry for you, Snow White, that your DBF is picky. I can't really see how he can be picky about food, especially at WDW. We will be using the Dining Plan ourselves in a couple of weeks (therefore I can't answer your question), and we can't wait of what WDW has to offer in terms of food. Not trying to be nosey, but what does he eat normally- just cheeseburger?

However, I hope that you enjoy your trip and maybe he will like to eat other things...

Snow White....I can understand your concerns with you DBF and being a picky eater...my DH is a VERY picky eater also.... Meat and Potatos kind of guy...NO veggies what so ever can be mixed into his food (he'll occasionaly eat some veggies on the side...but things like corn on the cob) and No fruit. I don't know about him ordering off the kids menu...but I can tell you that my DH was able to find some great things he liked on the adult menu at the places we went. Of course he'd have to "special" order here and there....by asking for no added veggies or what nots. I also don't know if it depends on the places you have your ADR...I can tell you where we ate...and assure you my picky eater ate just fine. We had ADR at Crystal Palace (breakfast) Cindy's Royal Table (Dinner...YUMMY) and Whispering Canyon Cafe'. We also had counter service at Pop a few times along with Columbia Harbor house.

We are taking our first DW vacation in Feb. 06. I am debating on buying the dining plan. Do the rooms at the value resorts have fridges and microwaves? Could we plan on eating some of our meals in the room? Thanks, Anita

Defnitely no microwaves. I think the charge for a fridge in the values is $10 a day extra.

We leave for WDW tomorrow morning and are on the dining plan. I plan to keep track of how much we spend at each meal to see if the dining plan is worth it. SO when we get back, look for our trip report and I will let you know. From what I have read people are saving hundreds of dollars by using it. We are staying at WL and they have frig's in the room, we had one last year then. We kept pop, snacks, yogurt, etc.. for a quick snack or breakfast. IT is kind of a pain to return to your room to have lunch or dinner when you are in the middle of a park having a good time. IT is great for breakfast to have the frig, cause you are already in the room, or a late night snack, but the value resorts are kind of far from the parks and might be not worth to return.

We are off to WDW in the morning, Ill post the results when we return!!!
