My husband and I just booked the 3 night in August 2019 on the Fantasy. I do not like the longer cruises because I get sea sick, so we have never been on the Fantasy and this week is his usually vacation week.

What differences are there between the ships that we should look for? Are the shows different? We are very excited to get to sail on a new ship. We have been on the other three, so this is our only Disney ship we have not sailed on yet.

Thank you!

Congrats on your upcoming Grand Slam cruise! Yes, there are (some) different shows. Also, the Midship Detective Agency varies a bit from the Dream. I know there are other differences - but half the fun is discovering them yourself.

Since the Dream and Fantasy are sister ships, they are very similar. There are different shows. The Dream has the new Beauty and the Beast show, plus Believe and the Golden Mickeys. The Fantasy has Aladdin and Wishes, plus Believe.

The ships share the same core layout. Most everything (restaurants, elevators, staircases, pools, etc.) are in the same place on both ships, so if you are familiar with the Dream, you will have no problem navigating the Fantasy.

In addition to the shows and bars, as mentioned above, the other major difference is decor (Dream = Art Deco; Fantasy = Art Nouveau). Some differences in the kids clubs (each has a different Star Wars/Marvel experience), and the premium sweet shops (Vanellope’s vs. Sweet on You). Fantasy has the AquaLab, Dream does not.

In all, I’d say it’s really not a radically different experience between ships, but different enough to make it worth your while.

Thanks! I just want to get in the Fantasy before the new ships start sailing. And I really prefer the short cruises (I know I am in the minority on that), and so I was excited to see the chance to sail the Fantasy for a 3 night. I will love seeing new shows!

That must be the one-off sailing after the 11-night S. Carib, I am guessing?

Probably. They have one this year and one next year. The dates for this year did not work for us, but next years does, so I went ahead and booked it.
