Fantasy split stays!

I rent points all the time and have never had an issue.

My dream split stay is staying at the Poly the entire time :P

We did this one year and its just really so awesome and the CMs are so wonderful. Only reason why we started doing split stays is the transportation to and from DHS in particular is just REALLY slow and the ability to walk to Epcot as well as DHS for half our stay has been irresistible. Plus we get to have fun at different restaurants.

Picking from what you said I would try the new Coronado Tower and then go to AKL Savannah. I have done both resorts, in the cabana at CSR and CL Savannah at AKL. We usually go with more of a budget one first part, then split with a deluxe - now Club Level on the 2nd. So, to fantasy it up... Id go CL in the new Tower and then CL at AKL.

Since my trip is 18 months away, Im leaning toward trying the new Tower CL (fantasy)or ASM (realistic) then heading over to the BWI for CL. We like the proximity and it would be a new one for us. However, I LOVED AKL CL SAVannah. Its a beautiful resort, and it always sits in the back of my mind.

Splits weve done were: 1) POR followed by YC (no CL) - this was fine, not the biggest YC fan but nice to move to central location and love POR
2) AKL CL followed by Dolphin - Dolphin not as nice as AKL but location great. Loved AKL CL.
3) All Star Sports followed by WL CL - this was a nice split

Now a serious fantasy would involve about 4 more days than I have - we usually go about 10. That would be 1)New Tower at CSR CL followed by 2) AKL CL and then BWI CL. In fact, Id just keep hopping around for 20 days if I could and throw in something on the monorail line either main bldg. GF CL or CR, lol, - oh and Ive always wanted to try SSR. Lol!

We had not stayed at any deluxe resorts until this year.
In May we did 1 night SSR,2nights AKL Savanna view,2 nights BLT. So awesome!
For our winter trip we are thinking WL, Poly,Yacht Club each for 3 nights.
Would also like to do a winter trip with Hilton Head and Vero Beach combined with a 3 night cruise.

Haha The possibilities are endless! I like your enthusiasm!!

My favorite was last years trip - we stayed in a 1 bedroom at the Beach Club Villas followed by a stay at POFQ.

My dream is probably a stay at the Boardwalk Villas with a view of the boardwalk followed by a stay at a Copper Creek Cabin

So I am trying not to think about it, because I have a long wait before I can actually go on my next WdW vacation, but here I am...thinking about it.

I really loooooved staying at the CR on our last trip. I feel like I left part of my heart there. But I really do want to experience some other resorts. I have four resorts I am thinking about for our next trip but I can only choose two of them. Right now we are planning on 11 days. I like the idea of staying in a Royal Room at POR, Coronado springs resort, a Savannah room at Animal Kingdom or maybe even a Lagoon room at the Grand Floridian.

What has been your favorite split stay? What is your dream split stay?
Big fan of the split stay concept.
When vacationing elsewhere I like to not stay at any one hotel more than 4 nights.
4 nights (sometimes 3) to me is an ideal amount of time to get to see the place, try the amenities offered / restaurant(s), etc...
After that I am usually ready to explore somewhere else. Any less than 3 nights and feel like the stay was too quick and I have not really experienced the place at all.
Cost wise there are sometimes benefits to staying longer but with a Disney split stay that likely is not a factor.

The added bonus of a Disney split stay is bell services will take care of your move (bags) for you, making it rather painless.
Think it is a good idea to plan to visit a park for a half day on your checkout/check-in day so you are not waiting around homeless at any point.
The only real downside I see is not fully settling in / unpacking everything once. That is a negative definitely, I have found the packable travel bags very helpful for keeping me organizer on a trip when I have to change bases a few times.

You may be able to game the Disney Dining Plan system with a split stay by only using the plan on one part of your stay but using it all day on checkin day and checkout day as well.

I am all for the turn 1 vacation into 2 different smaller vacations concept.
Poly and AKL sounds good to me.

We've done a split BC/CBR in Feb, We're doing Poly/YC/Riverside this August 5/4/3 day stays respectively. This Nov we're doing BWV/AKL.

It's really nice to have a stay in the same place the entire time, but I really enjoy moving to experience the other resorts. My DW isn't as big of a fan because she likes to unpack and settle and she hates having to repack. It's nice to move around and focus on the location strengths - like we're MK heavy at Poly, Epcot/HS heavy at BC/BW.

Not having to worry about your bags is about the only way this works, I love they take care of that for you.

Ya, I might actually try to pack bags within my bags to keep them organized. We plan on staying at the beach for a few days after we arrive at MCO, we did this last time and it was a great way for us to transition to East Coast time. We are in Oregon so that was the hardest part. Then we plan on doing a couple of days at Universal, probably at the Hard Rock and then move on to our Disney part of the vacation. That is quite a bit of moving. I think I am going to try to pack as light as possible and keep it organized.

Hey at least being from Oregon the late night EMH's are no problem! At least it isn't for us :).

This next time we're planning on packing a suit case for every leg to make it easier. See how that goes...

It worked out well for us last time. There was a certain bag we opened everywhere, of course - toiletries and the like, but a whole suitcase remained unopened during the first part of the trip, and we left another in the car while we were at my Dad's. (We did a "Disney/Christmas with family/back to Disney" split stay.) We also had a shoe bag (with the bottom rows trimmed off) for toiletries - so all we had to do was take it out of the suitcase and hang it up after the two moves. I got the idea here on the DIS!

We're doing our "dream stay" this trip -- Yacht Club Water View Club Level for 4 nights followed by Poly Club Level Theme Park View for 5 nights. We're just so excited -- although not having ever stayed at YC, we're cautiously excited on that part of the split.

Same dream trip here! Thinking about BLT instead of Poly though.... We have 6 and those Poly bungalows are $$$!

Best split stay we've done: WL (3 nights) / YC (4 nights).
Worst split stay we've done: YC (4 nights) / CR* (3 nights).
Dream Split: Poly / YC in that order.

* We were originally supposed to stay in AKL. We got a bunk bed room. Due to medical equipment, this wouldn't work for us. So we went to the front desk and asked for a 2 queen bed room. There were none available, so they asked if we would like to switch resorts. We chose CR as we had never stayed at there before. We did not care for CR at all. It just wasn't for us.

I get it. We visited CR one year (had lunch at the Wave) with the intention of "scoping it out" to maybe stay there on the a future trip. But I felt the same way - it just wasn't "me". (We did love the Wave, though!)

Combined with the fact that your expectations of the trip revolved around AKL, I can definitely see it being disappointing. (Well, a qualified "disappointing" - as it is still Disney, and I'm sure you enjoyed the parks in spite of the change!)

I love the CR But I could see how if that is not your style, and you had your heart set on AKL.... that would be disappointing. Very different resorts.

Yea, it just didn't fit our style. We are glad we were able to experience it though.

We had never given thought to eating at The Wave until we stayed there for that trip. We had dined at Chef Mickey's and California Grill in the past, but never The Wave. We had dinner there our first night and really liked it. We had good service and good meals so it is now on our list of "Check for reservations of these restaurants if we can't get into XXXX".

We have our 4th split stay coming up later this month.
Split #1: 1 night POR royal room, 6 nights BLT
Split #2: 6 nights BCV, 6 nights BLT
Split #3: 2 nights CSR, 6 nights BCV, 3 nights AKV Jambo (we decided to be daring and tried a 3 way split)
Split #4: (upcoming) 4 nights BWI, 4 nights BLT, 1 night Beach Club

All villa stays were DVC point rentals. This will be our first time staying on the hotel side of the resorts with BWI and BC - still have my DVC point rental in the middle at BLT. This one wasn’t supposed to be 3 resorts, but we ended up adding an extra night and of course couldn’t extend the BLT reservation.

We are talking about trying for our dream split next year - Poly and Beach Club! But BCV and BLT was a pretty fantastic split as well.
