Fantasy - July 14, 2012

So DH had to work tonight, and I'm on the boards...:surfweb:I came across these neat tips:
9. Use baby powder to sprinkle on sandy feet, wait a second and the sand just brushes away with a towel.
10. Don’t forget to put on Safe Sea which stops jellyfish and sea lice stings.
I didn't even know they made that stuff! What a great idea. Has anyone used this before? Does it work?

Check out this thread to read the complete list. They are great! popcorn::

We took sea safe on our 1st cruise and have never used it since. It's not necessary. Applying it is kind of a pain, it has to be applied everywhere, even under you swimsuit. At that time (10 years ago) it could only be purchased online and now I get continual emails from the company that specializes in tan thru bathing suits. In my opinion, there isn't much to tan through!

Use the money for more sun screen.

I've not tried the baby powder, interesting. Do know that at Castaway Cay they have foot showers to use before you board the ship. The are right by the gangways and they encourage people to use them. I can't imagine what all that sand does to the ships plumbing.

Since I'm a beer lover, I was wondering...why would one bring beer to Castaway Cay unless you're still drinking the beer you brought onto the ship? Wouldn't you be able to purchase it just as you would on the ship? I've bought the beer mug pkg so I assume I'll be able to use my token to pay the lower price if I order something during lunch? I was going to pre-buy the 6 for the price of 5 special but they said I could get the same deal onboard as well. Is that correct? I may not worry about bringing any onboard though, since it sounds like the "refrigerator" is more like a cooler that won't keep it super cold. Please correct me if I'm wrong! Thanks!

I bring my own beer onboard, DH drinks rum so he brings that. We did the beer mug once but the mug is very heavy and gratuity is added everytime you fill it. I just looked last night because DH thought we shouldn't bother bringing beer this time but they want $21 for a 6 pk :scared1:

I will bring a couple of 12 pks and a case of bottled water. I just put it all in a carry on suitcase. No big deal.

The "coolers" are on the Magic/Wonder. Dream/Fantasy have small refrigerators. The are very small though. Often I just ask for a bucket of ice and stick a few bottles in the bucket. Works just fine for me.

Hi,

DH, DD (9), DS ( 7), and I will be on the July 14th Fantasy Cruise and are very much looking forward to it. It is our third disney cruise (2 on the Magic), first on the Fantasy........this is the first time that I am reaching out to fellow cruisers and posting on the DIS board to see if we can connect with others.....thought it would be fun - especially now that our kids are older and will I am sure be very busy :)

I have noticed that there are couple of families with other 9 year old girls....and I am sure my DD (9) would be thrilled to make contact with them before and on the cruise....

Also curious about the FE exchange....never having done it before, what would be involved....what do the FE gifts usually consist of (e.g. examples, avg. cost per gift etc.)...Sounds like fun, but need to know more about the expectations before we commit!

Welcome Eeyorenorth! There are many FE threads on the main cruise board. In a nut shell, people make (or purchase on ebay) some kind of pocket that hangs from the fish outside the stateroom door (hence the name Fish Extender). People sign up to participate with their meet group (us) and you put gifts in the pockets of the participants. Some people do a family gift, some do gifts for everyone in the stateroom, some people give more than one gift, some make the gifts, some purchase items. There's quite a variety. Candy is common. If you decide to participate and I notice you are from Canada - Coffee Crisp candy bars would be greatly appreciated in my FE!! :lmao: The don't sell them in the states but I have a friend in Calgary who sends them to me every now and then.

Welcome aboard. Noahsmom explained the Fe quite well. It is really up to you in terms of what you want to give. There is a total of 12 groups involved at present with a total of 48 people. I am the one organizing it and if you want to participate just let me know the names of everyone in your group and your room number. Where is Canada are you?

Noahsmom I have many coffee crisp in my home (it is the one Canadian chocolate bar that my children do not like) so I will put a few in your FE gift. Even though we live in the US 3 of us are still Canadian citizens and whenever we go back or have family visit there is always a request for Aero, smarties (the ones like m&m's) and canadian Kit Kat.

That would be so wonderful!!! I haven't received a care package in a year so I'm missing the coffee crisp. I don't understand why it's not sold here! The 1st time I had it, I wasn't too crazy about it but by the 4th bite I was hooked.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Count us in for the FE exchange.....we can certainly manage a few coffee crisp/kitbag/ smarties/ and aero bars..... And I guess I will just have to get crafty.

So here are the cast of characters: nathalie(dw), Stu (dh), Michelle (dd9) and Sammy (ds7).
We will be in stateroom 5154...at last check......

We'll be driving down from Toronto......and following up the cruise with a few days at Vero beach!

This is off topic, but I'm going on a field trip tomorrow with the 8th grade band/orchestra tomorrow. Noah was not too excited when he found out I volunteered to go but he's coming around. We are going to Chicago, having lunch at Navy Pier, then going to the matinee of Million Dollar Quartet at the Apollo theater. http://milliondollarquartetlive.com

Should be fun!:cool1:

We r getting excited as this is our first cruise:cool1:

Consider yourself on the list. This is becoming quite a big FE list compared to where it started off. If you will be driving through Washington DC area let me know I can give you some suggestions of things to do.

How exciting.....maybe the girls can touch base via email prior to the cruise.....I know mine is very excited.......:yay:

What cabin are you in?

Thanks! Not sure where we're stopping on the way down....might be a straight drive through depending on time.....

Aloha!

DH and DD (14 months at time of cruise!) are ready to set sail.

I am beyond excited for this cruise. It will be our first Disney cruise but not first cruise!

Is it July yet?

What cabin are you in?

We have two cabins. We are thinking of putting the girls in one and the boys in the other. I also have a 14 yr old son. Both girls are wanting to sleep in the top bunk:scared1: so who knows for sure. But the cabins are connecting so the door will be open at all times so I guess it really doesn't matter. You will be able to find us at 5174 and 5176. :woohoo:

PM me your email address and Ill have my daughter, Brianna email your daughter. :thumbsup2

Just explained FE to the family traveling with us (actually just to the mom because my daughter is making their FE and wants it to be a surprise for the rest of their family), and she says they'd like to do it. They are in 8188... Kerry(dw) Lee(dh) Abigail (dd 12) and Lili (dd9). She had concerns about expectations also, since we won't know how many will be participating until group is closed.

Let your friends know they are now on the list. I have entered them as no name since I don't have a disboard ID.

For those of you keeping track our little FE has grown leaps and bounds over the past few weeks. We are now 14 groups and 56 people so I figure it is time to do another survey about closing down the list. What does everyone think?

On another note has anyone done the 5K on CC. I keep wanting to do it but can't wake up early to get going so I figure maybe someone here can help motivate me.

We could also keep it open and dived the list in two........since 14 groups /2 =7 Which would be 1 FE/ day......keeps it a little smaller....and more manageable?
