Just a warning we came off the the Fantasy today and the line to disembark was long. We were near the end and got off at 10:15. I was talking to the officer in charge and I guess only 3 Customs people were there to check people out. They had the same same long wait last Saturday. Otherwise the cruise was great with few hiccups.

Thank you so much. We are boarding the Fantasy on the 21st.
What about cleaning and sanitizing? Are people taking extra precautions?
We trust DCL, but still kind we're kind of concern for the virus :magnify:

Just got off the Norwegian Breakaway today in Port Canaveral. The Customs and Boarder protection agency is using a new pilot program to disembark its guest. It work's on facial recognition. You walk up to a facial scanner and if the light turns green you can leave the ship, if it turns blue a crew member manning the scanner directs you over to where you have to present yourself to a customs agent. They were doing it right on the ship near the gang way.
As far as I know this is only available for US citizens who have and use a passport. For those who could not use this system I am not sure how long it took them to clear customs and disembark.

Norwegian does disembark times. Ours was 10am. We were cleared to disembark by around 9:20 and in our car with our luggage in less than a half an hour. My wife and I were able to use the new scanner system.

On our 2018 and 2019 Disney cruises it took almost an hour and a half to get off the ship. We were told by the luggage porters that customs was shorthanded at the time. Not sure if that was true or not.

Yeah. We didn't have that.

Remember not to judge. On the Fantasy and Dream you have to cut through cabanas to get to the aft stairwell. Not sure if they thought this out. We book 5E aft on most cruises so to go from the pool deck to our cabin we go through Cabanas to the stairwell/elevator. We always tell the CM we are going to the aft stairs and they understand. Btw, there are sinks in the aft stairwell too.

Wish they were forceful all of the time! I still cannot imagine why people would voluntarily enter a buffet without washing their hands!

I often would use the bathroom and wash my hands right before going into a meal. I am not going to argue with a cast member, so I would wash my hands again (or take a wipe when going into MDRs) but I really had just washed them.

that’s what we do too. We grab a wipe as we cut through cabanas to get to our aft room.

That's what we do too even if we're just heading to the aft stairways. This is restaurant and it hasn't even come to my mind to go in there with dirty hands.

(Plus, if there's something that we unexpectedly want to bring on with us, we're clear to do so!)

I can ditto with the same Saturday before that, 2/22. Not sure it was the Customs issue, but there were two lines on the ship for sure and we didn't get off until after 10 with many in line behind us.

Debarkation on the Fantasy has been horrible our last 4 cruises. Super long lines the length of the ship and back to the atrium, then lines queuing all the way through the terminal with only 3 agents working. Not very Disney like. They could take some lessons from other lines on how to be more efficient.

We've always gotten off the ship fairly smoothly. In a case like this where everything is moving slowly due to customs or another 'known' delay issue, do they still try to get everyone herded off the ship on the normal schedule or do they allow people a little more leeway to take their time leaving (as long as you are staying out of the staterooms). I'm just thinking I'd rather spend an hour sitting on a bench or playing shuffleboard with my kids than to be standing forever in a line winding through the atrium.

We got off our last cruise on the Fantasy on 12/21/2019 and had delays getting off. We had the second breakfast and got into line soon after eating. The line went from the stores to the atrium, back into the theater and then back to the atrium. We were told customs was periodically stopping the disembarking to keep lines from backing up too much in the terminal. I didn't count the number of agents on duty when I went through.

We took our 22nd Disney Cruise this past summer and never experienced anything like the mess we experienced then, disembarking. We could not find the end of the line and since we were in no rush we just waited in the atrium for the end to come around to us. Even once we got in the line, just a little ways away from the door we still waited quite a while in line to get to the door...and quite a while to scan out... and quite a while to be let down the escalators, etc... I have always told people how easy it is to disembark DCL, but sadly I think this is becoming more and more common...and it seems to be due to lack of customs agents.

Did you notice if there were different lines for U.S. citizens and those who were not citizens? I wondered if there were two lines and one was longer than the other.
