Wine stem to stern: Pretty good. 2 whites and 2 reds and brief explanation of the regions they came from

Champagne: Excellent! Four different samples and a great presentation on the origins, current makers and how the wine is made. Excellent Panna Cotta to accompany the champagne.

Beer: Fair to poor. 4 beers--Stella, Sam Adams, Boddingtons, and Guinness. Very Friendly MC but he knew next to nothing about beer or its origins. Beer was warm and served in flute style glass instead of beer glass or mug.

Next trip we'd do the Champagne again!!

We are hoping to try the wine tasting on the Fantasy next week. Sorry to hear about the beer tasting, we tried that on the Dream last year and enjoyed it. Guess it depends on the bartender, since the one at our tasting was very knowledgeable and funny. Didn't hurt that he kept doing beer trivia and giving out beer to the winners. :drinking1

We did beer a couple years ago. The selections sound similar. We definitely didn't drink from flutes. LOL! I've never been impressed with the beer selection, tasting included. So I totally agree.

I've always wanted to do the champagne tasting! I'm just now finding my palate for wine/champagne. Slowly. In my 40s. :O Was always more of a beer girl. Anywhoo, I'm finally really enjoying champagne so happy to hear this one.

My fav to date is martinis. Oh how I loooooove the martinis. :D

FRom my Guest Invoice:
Wine $50 for 2
Champagne $80 for 2
Beer $45 for 2.

Tastings last an hour more or less---

Funny story: years ago I did the beer tasting on the Magic...I was the only woman at the tasting and was alone (before FE groups, etc)...anyway, I went to college in Milwaukee and "majored" in "fluids"...I mean...brewery tours...as a result, I was able to answer several trivia questions and earned free beers. I poured a perfect black and tan...another free beer...My kids (teenagers then) still tease me after that tasting...I was feeling no pain...it was a very fun activity

Sure, the beers were nothing special but the activities were fun (would be a bummer without a enthusiastic bartender)

Guinness tastes like Pennzoil no matter what the temperature. Boddingtons not far behind.

Wow, never tasted Boddingtons but... Guinness?

I'm tempted to ask what is a "good beer" to you. Your standards seems very high.

Please tell...

Any reviews of the liquor and chocolate tasting? I had this one booked on our most recent Wonder cruise but was really sick and didn't make it. Would love to hear opinions!

It was a big hit for my family - the chocolate options are SO yummy...there is a variety of liquor and not all of the items appeal to everyone, so I have learned...but to me it was a great chance to try new things and new combinations

We've done all of the tastings at least once (except Beer). The Champagne tasting is still our favorite. Cheers :drinking:

thanks! Might have to try it!

Not on the Fantasy but we did the liquor and chocolate tasting on the Wonder last week. Not what I expected. I kept thinking we were going to sample chocolate based drinks like a chocolate martini, mudslide, etc. but it was completely different. We enjoyed it!!! They paired chocolate with different liquor. We had five different drinks. We also did the Mixology (loved it) and the Mojito tasting (really liked it).

Not standards--just a taste preference.

I like Newcastle, Smithwicks, Red Stripe, Bass Ale, Stella, Blue Moon, most wheat beers and marzens, Octoberfest, Kirin, Sapporo, Tiger,Dos Equis Amber, Anchor Steam, Sierra Nevada, Yuengling--among others.

Boddingtons is virtually tasteless to me. Guinness even worse.

Not a fan of IPA's either--far too hoppy.

I would like to do champagne sometime. I've done the wine and chocolate.

My wife and I loved it on our first cruise on the Dream. It was hosted by a sommelier from Palo and somehow we were the only ones there, so we really got an intimate experience!
We will probably do it again this weekend on our cruise if it's offered. I don't generally prefer wine, but the wines served were great and the scotch...oh boy! :)

Have you tried Grimmbergen?
