Does anyone have a suggestion, before I book anything, for a deck # preference and why?

I know that the higher the deck, usually the better....just trying to decide if deck 6 is good enough versus deck 9/10 for the price difference of a few hundred dollars. If there is a big difference or some benefit to being on deck 9 or 10, please let me know. First time Disney Cruiser...:)

To me there is no difference.....I always book an O/V on Deck 2 due to the convenience of being on Deck 2 and of course it is the least expensive O/V cabin category. The porthole on Deck 2 is a bit smaller but not enough to keep me from booking on Deck 2.

I emailed my DU travel agent to see what I can get. I need a big enough room for me, DH, DD18, and DS7. We are used to pretty spacious quarters. However, I know that doesn't really happen on the cruises unless I want to double my price. LOL.

Surprising ALL kids on this trip...my daughter is graduating high school #20 in her class of 550 and for getting a FULL and complete scholarship from University of Alabama for Chemical Engineering. We really want to surprise her with something awesome.

We always go to WDW...5x last year and we are going to WDW 3x this year and DL. But wanted something fun and unexpected. We will definitely get a deluxe family suite...are there any specific rooms I should ask for for July 27th trip?

I only have experince with deck 6 on the Dream which is the same as the Fantasy and we loved it. We had room 6676 which is aft. For our upcoming Fantasy cruise we wanted to try forward just for fun and the only one available was on deck 8 so we will be trying 8514. I don't think you can really go wrong with any of them. Good luck! :goodvibes

First time Disney cruiser - just got back today. We were on deck 9 and loved it. We found the elevators could be really busy - so it was easy to walk up 2 decks to the pool or Cabanas. Also easy to walk down to the lower floors for meals.

Awesome!! Thanks so much! I am investigating all of the decks, but if I can avoid an elevator, or waiting in another "Disney line" i will...LOL what level is the seated dinner dining on and is it a buffet? Do they have any counter service places for lunch or whatever, and how do they do breakfast??

It looks like I can only get 2nd seating for dinner. What time is that? I wonder if my DS7 can make it.

Three dining rooms you will switch between, assigned on arrival. The Main Dining Rooms are seated dinners. Second seating is at 8:15, while main dining is at 5:45. You go to the showtime opposite your dining time. You can request to be wait listed for main dining. No guarantees but they really do try to accommodate as best as possible.

Breakfast and lunch can be seated or buffet or quick service. Your choice. The daily Navigator will have details regarding all of these.

Congrats for your daughter! fantastic!
We love deck 6! Right in the middle between restaurants and pool/cabanas.
We also love 2nd seating. It is less rushed with a little more pool time!
We always use the stairs. It helps keep the pounds off. Haha!

We stayed in rooms 7176 and 7178 (connecting) cat 8C on the Dream last year. We loved the location which was close to the stairs and elevators but not so close that it was noisy. We are booked on the Fantasy in June in the same exact rooms. Good luck!

Thanks so much! Ok so deck 6 could be a good fit for us...I was a little worried about the later dining, but I am sure it will be fine. What deck is the fitness center located? We run and workout a lot and I figured we might workout during the cruise. :) maybe. LOL

One of my quotes is for deck 6, good to know.

We stayed in 9628 on the Dream, which we loved. It is considered aft and is a short walk to the aft staircase which we used almost exclusively. Two flights up brings you out in Cabanas, close to pool too. I think using the staircase so much really helped because we managed not to gain any weight, lol! I read stateroom reviews before we went and discovered many people on the 10th deck complaining about noise from pool chairs being moved very early. Our room was very quiet. Good luck!

Fitness Center is on Deck 11 Forward.
Walking/Running track is on Deck 4. 3 laps=1 mile

Sue & I hit the track every morning. Usually between 630-7am. Funny, when on vacation I barely sleep. Just so excited to enjoy it all.
We haven't used the fitness center but enjoy the rainforest room to relax. I've heard the one on the Fantasy is amazing!

The only thing I don't like about late dining is going to bed feeling "too full" haha

Awesome! I would love to run outside versus the treadmill, although I am sure that the fitness center is fantastic! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Yeah, that's what I am worried about, I don't eat food after 8 normally, unless I am at WDW Nd we are walking until midnight or 1 am. LOL :) not sure if my little guy can make it that late!

When we sailed the Fantasy in June 2012 we were in a Deluxe Family stateroom with a large porthole (Room 8512...We loved it so much we are in the same room for our Fantasy cruise in June 2014!):thumbsup2 It was a great location...up front, quiet, little motion, near spa...pefect!

n't overlook deck 8 midship. We stayed in 8596 on the Fantasy last year and loved it. We are booked for 8612 this year just a gew doors down. Not any noise , high enough to avoid the lifeboats blocking your views and halfway to any where on the ship. We took th aft elevator down to the clubs and the forward elevator to the lobby very rarely used the midship elevator as it was a bit of a wait, plus we liked to check out peoples doors.

we stayed in 10554 last August on the Fantasy....very, very convenient but way to noisy, especially in the morning....noise filtering in from the pool deck...

we are going with deck 9 on our next cruise...

We stayed on deck 9 on the Dream and will be on deck 9 again on the Fantasy in March. Both times we were initially booked on 10. We switched to 9 after hearing reports of early morning noise and because of the overhanging shade from deck 11. Deck 9 was very quiet and we got sunshine on the Veranda.

Lovely to read this. Our cruise is January 2017 but hopefully all the good stuff stillmapp
