Airmiles Armchair Chatter

What the actual WHAAAT?!!! They had better give our current miles MUCH more value when they convert them over to these new fangled "blue rewards" the conversion rate is awful if they don't 😡

To give an example using my current balance :
20412 miles = almost $2150 (95 miles = $10)
If they just do a straight switch to the new "easier" conversion rate:
20412 blue reward points = $136 ! (1500 points =$10)

someone please tell me I've read this wrong

this won't be happening until summer BTW

I am guessing that existing points will be converted… but I’ll be continuing to cash in as soon as I can.

Wow so many changes! I barely shop at any of the places that earn AM now, the list they have isn't very extensive. Losing Shell... that will kind of suck. I guess I'll earn Scene Pts since I do like going there to get the 3 cent discount with CAA. I guess since I'll be doing my last redemption for Disney GCs this week, after that it'll just be whatever I earn. No more Onyx? Gold?

I just finished last week cashing out for all my Airmiles for Disney Gift cards ,,I should have enough for my DVC dues 2027.
Today I cashed the last few in for 11% off Starbucks gift cards,, I use a lot of them at Universal Orland resort.
I guess a New Year ,,,time for a new game plan I guess.

That value they have listed below is just terrible.

And why are they talking about *Points* when it should be Airmiles?
Wait this says they are going with the wording Points.....................

I’m an AIR MILES collector, what do I need to do?

Your AIR MILES balance is safe. You can keep earning and redeeming with your AIR MILES card without interruption. Once Blue Rewards launches, your Miles will automatically convert to Points, with no loss in value.

This is somehow wrong,,, Facebook or call Airmiles.
I makes no sense.

Just a reminder to take deep breaths and read the information yourself! Nothing is happening for months yet, they are just giving the required notice.

Already merged into just ONE type of miles that still work as we're used to, 95 miles =$10

Expedia takes over travel (other than cruises) in March I believe

The new switch over to Blue Rewards isn't happening until "summer"

I'm assuming they will make 95 miles = 1500 point to allow them to make the conversion remain equal.

The system is currently bogged down and people are reporting not being able to redeem for gift cards at the moment. Must be lots of people in a "run on the bank" mode

Funny is that I read this email and cashed in some miles for Amazon and I had no problems. Worked seamlessly. Amazon is less points right now so I thought why not.

This is where I am. Stores for airmiles are not convenient for me. I have Scene+ but those stores are also not convenient for me. I will be cashing in what I have, and moving on to just using my Tangerine CC -cashback is immediately put into my vacation account or my PCMC-Esso is right in town, no searching for a Shell station, and I do shop No Frills consistently.

I will dust off the Scene+ and let DD know that come May, she'll be getting her own points rather than my airmiles if she chooses to gas up at Shell.

No more Shell? Well there goes that one. Still have Irving for gas, I guess.

I am not surprised about Shell switching to Scene as the stores in the Maritimes are Needs/Sobeys owned anyways. We never get those in-store AM Shell offers.

I have just over 37,000 miles in my account and over 2,000 in DH's. I have been cashing his out regularly for gas though.

This is from the FAQ:

I can understand them wanting to change the name of Air Miles since it really isn't representative anymore. It will be interesting to see what else changes.

I tried redeeming for a couple of e-vouchers and when I go to confirm it won't let me. The button to move onto the next step is green (not blue) when I try to click on it. I'll wait a few days and redeem then.

While I do have BMO CC this is the last change I will go through. I'm going to use up my AM and then I'm done.

I just read the emails on this. I feel a tad panicked. I’ve got 58k AM. Now, we have been tossing around a cruise on the Treasure next month. I could cash in a couple thousand in gift cards for that which had not even crossed my mind.

Like others have said, I think there's a bit of a run on e-vouchers at the moment. The system isn't behaving as it usually does. I'm hoping it gets back to normal in a few days and I'll cash out some AM for e-vouchers then.
