**Fantasy Becomes Reality** Group--5/19/2012 (INDEX/ROLE CALL, PAGE 1--ENTRY 1)

Again, lots of hugs and prayers for Sues and Tony - you've had a tough few months. It sounds like your mother's journey ended well - at peace and surrounded by love - I wish everyone could be so lucky to have family like you. God bless!

Donaldsgal - Have a super fun time at WDW!!

I'm back from Finland. My brain hurts a little from all the information they fed me at the conference. Since I returned on Thursday night I have slowly started to digest it all and realise what the conference was about (youth participation and youth policy) and what I need to do next, which is a lot. It was a little overwhelming at the time, and now I am realising all the empowerment it gave me to take action and make the world a better place for the youth and young adults of today. I'd love to share my thoughts and experiences with anyone who works with youth, young adults, or government, as there is a lot of information you could find very useful!! (Hey, I need to spread the word...)

Ah, last night we finally set our plans for this trip! We sat down and decided on where we will go before the cruise, what days we will be where, who will plan our activities for each day, and started to look at port adventures... oh... I'm getting excited now! Tomorrow I'll go to the library and get books about each of the places we are visiting so we can do a little more research. Yay! (Sadly, we could only choose one of Universal Orlando or LEGOLAND Florida... We picked Universal, and promised ourselves to go back another time to visit LEGOLAND and the new Magic Kingdom.)

Hi; we (dee, don, and adult son allen will be on this cruise. could someone please assist in getting us on the fish extender exchange. thank you

dytx42@sbcglobal.net

dytx: welcome!

On behalf of DizDaddy and Sues 14, I will tell you that they will get you added and listed and informed in due time. DizDaddy's mother passed away on Sunday, so we are giving them a well deserved break time from administrative stuff.

Hi, johnPa does the fish extenders but we will also try to send him a message too!

dytx is already on the front page, they have been added a short time ago if I'm not mistaken, they just need to be added to the fish extender list.
Thank you for the break, Tony should be back soon. I know he has been checking in here and there.

I'm glad you are back safe and sound, did you have fun? And did you get to sight see? I hope so! I'm a little jealous that you are planning for our trip. I sent a message to our friend Nicole saying I need to find that quiet little spot on the ship to sit and relax and see nothing but ocean!:wizard:

Just stopping in really quickly before heading to work and then the airport later today. We'd appreciate prayers for safe travel!

Sue and Tony, I'm sorry to hear of your loss, but I'm so glad for your mom that she left happy and surrounded by thins that brought her comfort. What a gift. Praying for you.

Jennifer (spacecanada), I think I STILL owe you a PM, yeah? Anyway, glad you returned home from Finland. Sounds like a very informative conference.

Welcome, new members!

I'll try to upload pics and updates from the parks while there to give us all a Disney fix! :) I'm excited to show off our MNSSHP costumes...

Have a great day, everyone!

Tony and Susan. While not unexpected, the loss of a parent is always a sad event. I'm glad that there was so much love and family at the end.

dytx: Looks like Tony or Susan got you on the FE spreadsheet already.

My 25 year old son, his wife and two children (DGD3, DGD7m) have moved in with us. After being empty nesters for 5 years, they've certainly changed our lifestyle! We can't wait to get them to WDW, but we're waiting for the Fantasyland expansion to be completed. I haven't had much time to surf the boards here, but now that they're settled in, I should be back on more often.

Getting my Disney fix listening to D-Cot. Entire Sonny Eclipse show at the moment.

I only hope that I can make decisions like my mom did, and shield my own children from such heart-wrenching decisions. Susan and I intend to get living wills in place to make our choices known. This experience has mandated such actions.

Not to imply that finances were your son's reason, but I think we will hear of this more and more until the economy somehow bounces back. And while we are not grandparents yet, I do look forward to taking small children to WDW someday! My daughter would not pass up an opportunity to visit Disney, but my son is just too cool for words and would likely pass, even if it was 'all expenses paid'.

I'm glad you are back safe and sound, did you have fun? And did you get to sight see? I hope so!
Oh yes, definitely! There was a lot to see and wandering around Helsinki with some locals was probably the best way to experience it all. Three of us took a ferry over to Tallinn, Estonia for the day and admired all the lovely sights there as well. :)

As for trip planning... we like to start planning things early - it gives us something to look forward to over the long winter which is predicted to be colder than normal this year. Brrrr.... Thinking of Castaway Cay when it is -40 degrees outside helps you get out of bed and off to work...

Tony and Susan -- so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I can only imagine how hard this for the family. Hugs sent your way.

My mom is coming home with me today from the hospital. I have to say I am very nervous about being her caregiver for awhile. She is doing very well and can't wait to get home. Now if I can only keep the boys (8,4) from hurting her and giving her rest, we should be okay.

JohnPA- I hope your transition from empty nesters to "parents" again will be a smooth one. I have to say that is one of the hard parts about my parents coming here. My husband has already decided to move out into our camper.

I just included you in my prayers for safe travel. Boy as a non-church going girl I have been praying a lot. Maybe that tells me I must get back to church.
I cant wait to see your photos from the trip. May you have good health, good weather, and good times.

You have been missed! Thanks for the well wishes, as far as kids go. I kind of look forward to us moving in with them. lol All I have to say is enjoy them all your kids and grandkids. How fun! As far as your fix I have no clue what that is but must find out. If it gives you a disney high, I really could use that right now.

I agree on the castaway cay. I cant wait! I am so glad you got to go sight seeing on your trip, post a few photos. I dont work with kids but I would love to know what you learned about them.

Kimistry, I may be a nurse but nothing prepares you for taking care of your parents at home. But one thing I do know is that they will be thankful that you are dong this and they will forgive the little mistakes of learning something new. Tell your husband to stay in the house, it will make him stronger. The bigest thing for your mom will be getting in and out of bed and the chair. You will learn what works quickly by trial and error. Just remind her not to use her arms. You might give her a weggie but use her slacks to pull her up. It works. you can also get a gait belt from a medical supply co. I wish you luck and let me know if I can give you any more hints.

Love it, it may not be a pool but it sure will help.

So sorry that I hijacked Diz Daddy's disboard account. :confused3 Sometimes I 4get to log him off! So I am sure you can tell the difference(Tony has no gramer errors like me) but just in case you cant. I am sorry.:guilty:

More details about the Fantasy have been released. I am very excited for these new water areas:
http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...lp-guests-cool-off-aboard-the-disney-fantasy/

I love the idea of the new water features. My 4yr really loved Nemo's reef but my 7yr thought it was too kiddie, so we had to split up to watch them. Now this one looks like it will be great for both boys and we may get to play together more.

Susan, thanks for the assurance and advice. I have to say my mom is doing great and making it really easy to take care of her. She has figured out the best way for her to get up out of the recliner and my biggest problem is keeping her from doing too much. Physical Therapy is coming to the house starting today and they will do all her activities and etc. so that takes some worry off me.

We still haven't decided if we are flying down or driving down for the cruise. We can fly into Sanford Airport on a direct flight really cheap through Allegiant Air. But, then there's the hassle of renting a car and all that. Or we can just drive down in about 13 hours.

I never book airfare this early, but we are doing this Disney Cruise 5/19 to 5/26/2012.
I am a Continental fan and have been watching the fares go up and up. I think because we want to fly home on Memorial Day, I'm not getting a good rate. I booked at $239.20 each non-stop from Newark to Orlando. I got the flight times I wanted. As soon as I confirmed our flights, I checked again and the same flights are now $276.60. Considering I got the exact flight times that I wanted, I am happy. We will stay at the Hyatt pre-cruise, and will be renting DVC points at VWL for 2 nights post-cruise.

Sues and Tony - I am sorry to hear about Tony's mother and saying a prayer for your family.

Trying to finalize plans for both this cruise (with a week at WDW before) and a Carnival cruise in December (with 3 days at Disneyland before). Too much going on right now - just finished one fiscal year at work and trying to get the new one going. I am ready for both trips and cannot wait. Take care all - looking forward to seeing you in May.

Wow-- so much happens between the chances I get to pop on here! A friend from my son's class is leaving for the Western on the Magic today, so I needed to get my cruise fix :) It is getting closer and closer!!!!!

Tony and Susan-- You are in our prayers. It is so hard to watch someone go through so much, but there is also a sense of peace when they are at rest. It doesn't necessarily make the loss easier on those of us left behind :(

Being a little slow these days, I'm just now catching on to the Dumbo announcement. I saw it awhile back but I think I thought that it was just an idea-- I didn't realize it was for sure. I agree with others that it's not exactly what comes to mind first, but I'm not sure that it will change my excitement about the ship :)

The progress on the ship is so much fun to watch! The boys and I keep checking in on it and they are really enjoying watching it come together. I'll have to show them the "new" video (well, it's new to me anyway, lol).

Not too much to report here. I have been working a little more to save my pennies for fun stuff on the trip (sometimes literally-- we have a "cruise jar" that we have been saving since we booked and it's filling up nicely!!!). Joey (my oldest) had to go back to Children's Hospital a couple of weeks ago for his epilepsy because we were seeing more seizure activity. They doubled his depakote, added Klonopin and adjusted his diastat. He went back for bloodwork on Thursday and he'll be admitted in November for monitoring to see how things are coming along. Crossing our fingers for a good report. The last cruise we went on ended to waking up for debarkation to Joey seizing in his bunk... Crossing our fingers that we can get it under control for this one :)

Anyway-- hope all others are doing well! I'm going to start trying to check in more often. I'm sorry I've been a bad Dis-er!!!!!!!! I feel so out of the loop!!!!

It's impossible for a good Mom to be a bad Dis'er :)

Hopefully everyone has heard/seen the announcements of new water features on the Fantasy. I am on an awkward hotel computer, so won't try to post links.

I must say DCL went up a bunch of notches in my book. As I read the dueling reviews 1) complaining of same pool size on Dream (with 1000 more passengers) versus 2) it is a sin to complain about pools :confused3 :lmao: I thought that no way can DCL do anything about it. pools take depth into decks below.... just no fix.

Their solutions are clever (I thought)

So let's get excited about May :yay:
