**Fantasy Becomes Reality** Group--5/19/2012 (INDEX/ROLE CALL, PAGE 1--ENTRY 1)

I don't think booking a dummy date is new. The CM will just tell you the last date available for booking, in my case it was 12/01/12. I booked a 7 night Dream with a GTY cabin for 12-01-2012. I received the 10% discount and paid only a 10% deposit. When the 2013 dates open up, I will move this cruise. The only difference with a DUMMY is that they do not assign a cabin number from inventory since they know you will move to another date.

this way is there is NO date just future, and nothing to be moved it does sound easier for them unless they lose your paper work:confused3

What is the new system? I've not heard anything about it. But I've been living under a rock (and in hospital waiting rooms) for a few months now....please share!

DizDaddy: how can you post without an update? are you at Barnes-Jewish hospital? Remember we are hoping hoping hoping for good news, but know your last update was grim.

Sorry I didn't provide the update. Actually, I've been making updates in Facebook and I also started a webpage for her progress on a site called CaringBridge. If you have never heard of it, lemme tell you how INCREDIBLY AWESOME it is. It's free to the poster, and they function by donations. Essentially, it is a journal to post updates, and then others can see the progress without re-iterating the same thing over and over again. Plus it will allow my mother to read thru it and get a glimpse of what was happening. It also allows people to leave entries in a guest book---well wishes, etc.

So that said, here is the link for my mother. We are all 'floating family' here, so feel free to follow along.....

Thank you for thinking of us....we appreciate it. It's been a crazy four months or so.

Just back from vacation to the Southwest and it seems that I have missed a lot.

Tony and Susan - wow, you guys have been through a lot! We certainly are praying for all of you and yours. PTL Susan for neg. biopsy.

Texfinn - PTL for the fires not getting you but still a very tragic situation. Prayers for all of Austin.

Spacecanada - Finland, how exciting! Hope you have a great trip.

As for Dumbo, I was not too excited either but the actual scultpture looks better than the sketch. Won't stop me from cruising on the Fantasy though.

Speaking of booking dummy cruises, how many of you book with a travel agent? Do you have to name them when you make the dummy booking?

Hi Karen, I see you are from Little Rock. We are in Heber Springs. Glad to have another Arkansasan on board.:yay:

Thanks, I am looking forward to the trip! Only 10 more sleeps, plus another one on the transatlantic flight.

We always use a travel agent, the same one my family has used for years. Disney already had our travel agent information on file (from our current reservation) when we booked onboard. We usually have a business card from our travel agent with our cruise documents anyway, just in case we need to contact her for whatever reason. If you don't have the travel agent information with you when you book onboard, you can always add it to the reservation later. (Or give the confirmation number to the travel agent and they will contact Disney and transfer it over.)

WELL A new picture is up !!!!!!:cool1::cool1::banana::banana:

not alot of differents but still moving along.

SOON VERY SOON it will leave dry dock and really float;):thumbsup2

Friends:
As a maniac planner, I have been studying the eastern caribbean port excursions (we have done western in some variety 3 times before, but never eastern). Imagine my surprise tonight when I find a bunch of changes at St Maarten (haven't looked at St T yet.

Anyone else happened to have been planning, and notice the diffferences?

what changes at SXM? we used to live there, that's why i ask. i *think* disney used to dock on the french side (marigot) right? are they on the dutch side (phillipsburg) w/ everyone else now?

i can't tell you how excited i am to go back to SXM!! we moved from there in '06, then went back in '08 for 10 days and will be back in '12, tooooo long away!!

how do you get a disney character to call you? and what do they say? our kids (ds9 and dd7) don't know about the cruise yet and i would love more info on a fun way to tell them! tia!!

sues14 sorry to hear about the back slide, it WILL make you stronger, just hold on!! :grouphug:
Thank you for the well wishes and we should be Hercules strong after this summer!
GOOD MORNIN FOLKS

Susan so sorry to hear all this I have health issues but nothing like this.

Has anyone checked out the NEW web camera at the port ????????

I think DISNEY just might of had something to do with it ?????:confused3:rolleyes1

garRy
thanks for the well wishes and I hope all is great with you! I think you should be cruisin the high seas about now!

Have already prayed and will keep praying. So, so sorry, Susan and Tony. I must add that personally know that the nephrology team at Barnes is outstanding. I know that will be just one part of the team involved, but should help.
Thanks! I can say great stuff about her care, just not great stuff about the waiting room. Wow, there are people that come from out of state with sick family and have to sleep in the waiting room, it is so sad. We have made lots of waiting room friends though. Yes they are great dr at barnes! I agree, and thanks for the prayers I think they are helping.

No Donald Duck?!!!:donald:
I swear - there is a conspiracy afoot!
Is the aqua duck not enough?! What to do....... I think we must do a Donald duck petition! Lol! I could never say who my fav character was but I think it's chip and Dale so of coarse Donald has to play a part as one of my faves because they are always ruining Donalds day!

I'm not really sure I like this. When I think of Disney, Dumbo doesn't scream out to me, but then again, it's not like it's a deal breaker for me.

I will be praying for you and your family. My mother-in-law had an appendectomy 2 years ago and should have been a simple surgery and recovery, but she spent 2 months in ICU but eventually made it back home. Sometimes we can't understand why things happen, we just have to keep moving and trusting in God.

I did this last year and since we live in Tennessee, I was given a phone number to call that would play the message. It was not as "magical" as
receiving a call, but my boys still loved it. Hopefully it is not like that this year.

Just saw the name on the main thread post!!! LOVE IT!!!!
yes I agree with the keep on moving and trusting in god to get us through! Wow, god and I have been doing a lot of talking this year! I guess that's the reason I'm still here. Thanks for the well wishes!

Hooray, 250 more days (ok, ok it will be tomorrow for us in USA, but in Europe it is now 250 days :lmao: )

A pic attached to celebrate. Thanks to DizDaddy for walking through how to do this! (Be sure to read Tony's and Susan's posts at bottom of prior page... they need our prayers...)

IMG_0149.jpg
Love the photo! I can't believe how fast it is going by.
Oh Sues and DizDaddy, do take care. We'll be thinking of you and wishing you the best.

As for the design, I really like it! I loved watching Dumbo as a kid - it was my favourite Disney film whilst growing up. The Minnie (inside) and Dumbo
(outside) combination would be great! (Tinkerbell would have been fun too, or Winnie the Pooh painting from a pot of Hunny.)

It looks like I'll be hading off to Finland in two weeks, so I won't have much time to spend on the boards utnil I get back. Lots to do... Is it May yet?
Thanks for the well wishes, and when may comes I will be the first to be in line to sit someplace comfy and quiet! Not saying that being in the hospital every day since sept 1st isn't fun but...:rolleyes1

Tony and Susan, you guys have certainly had a lot going on this summer! I hope things look up for you very, very soon! No pressure to hurry back here - take care of you and your'n!

Dumbo is not my favorite choice because I find the movie horribly depressing. All I think about when I think about Dumbo is how I saw it as a child. The part
where Dumbo's mother (Jumbo?) reaches through "prison" to touch Dumbo was awful! And as a child who had recurring nightmares about my mom being kidnapped or taken away forever, it always made me cry. I wanted Dumbo to have his mommy! Plus those elephants didn't seem to like what they did in the circus, and people teased Dumbo... wow - now I'm being depressing! :lmao: Anyway, I'm glad it's a hit for lots of you, and I'm sure, as with all
things Disney, it will be done beautifully. I would have liked Peter Pan or Tinkerbell..... I read somewhere about Genie as an option, and personally, that character best captures for me the idea of fantasy. Wishes, your wildest imaginations, making anything you can think a reality, etc. I would have LOVED that choice. Anyway, to each his or her own! ;)

dlf246, glad to see a pic of your family! You look very pirate-y, and I always
like seeing a dad who lets loose and is part of the action! :)

Jennifer - Finland? Safe travels to you!

Donald Applecore (I don't know if I know your real name), I'm SO with you on the Donald thing (obviously, given my avatar and DIS name). My dad does a
Donald voice, so he's always been my favorite character since I was a (freaked out by Dumbo ;)) kid.

I signed my niece up for one of the DCL calls, but I made a mistake on the night, and she'll be getting the call tonight while at gymnastics! :headache: Oh well, I read that they'll send you a link to reschedule if the call is missed, so I
hope it can get rescheduled since you only get 2 calls per stateroom. I picked Ariel - sure to be a hit with my Ariel-loving niece!

Later, everyone! :)
Thanks for the good thoughts and hugs. Tony also does "Donalds" voice and my brother can do "Mickey". So last year while camping we were sitting around the campfire making s'mores with my nieces and nephews and Tony and my brother were talking back and forth as Donald and Mickey when out of the blue my other brother starts talking "Eeyore" we were all shocked but it will be a yearly thing now the kids loved it!

I did not know you could do this! Very very cool. Will have to try it for the kids. Even though they know they are going, think they would get a kick out of a phone call from Goofy.

Oh Sue - that is terrible! My prayers and positive thoughts are with you.

How long will you be in Finland? We spent the summer there an miss it
already.....

Sorry have been MIA again. We switched from AT&T U-verse back to Time Warner and DSL and needless to say, they screwed up everything. We have been without internet for several days (and phone for a couple) but, knock on wood, all is going well now.

Work is busy but will do my best to keep up with the boards.

Happy Tuesday all!

P.S. - we were not affected by the fires directly, but it really is a huge tragedy - 1400+ homes destroyed ... very very sad...
first things first. I'm glad you are safe, I keep telling my daughter that if we have to leave our house (down size) that the house does not make us a family we do. So I know it would break my heart to loose all my worldly possessions as I am sure everyone there feels, but I am glad they are safe and blessed.

Second, thank you for the well wishes as I do believe everyone has helped us get through this last month.

Third... So sorry spacecanada Jennifer for not :woohoo: for your trip to Finland! I thought maddi was going back?! I kept thinking, that was fast! Sorry, what can I say? SLEEP DEPRIVED!

Just back from vacation to the Southwest and it seems that I have missed a lot.

Boy I know I sound like a broken record.... Thanks for the well wishes, and the happy dance about no cancer for me. That seems like years ago! May will be here in no time.

Wow, how time flys. I have not been on the boards in what seems like ages. Tony's mom is better today. I say today because we don't know what will be in the am. On Tuesday Tony and his sister made the decision to go with their moms wishes, which at the time were no vent. Since she was taken off sedation she had kept saying she didn't want to be on the vent, didn't want dialysis even though she knew that without them she would die. To make matters worse we were told by staff that she had icu delirium so she couldn't direct her care. Well Tony had prepared himself and they talked to their mom and said they would not let them put the trach in and if they extabated her that they would follow what she wanted and not re-intabate her. Later that day she came off the vent. She also changed her mind, she will let them do everything! Today she was talking and smiling! I asked her why she wanted the tube out? Was she afraid? She told me not so much afraid but tired of fighting to hold on. All I can say is "what a difference a day makes"! She is not out of the woods yet but we are of the mindset one day at a time.

As far as me goes....one month post surgery, starting to get a little energy. I have now lost and never want to find 74 lbs, since June! I am as of today on regular food :worship: I'm not sure I will ever want mashed potatoes again in my life. The only thing I miss the heck out of is big drinks of water! Oh, and sleeping on my stomach! I keep trying, but I can't stop burping every two seconds! I will ask the dr about that when I see him next week. I find some habits are very hard to break, like wanting to eat when stressed! I also eat more at night. I can go almost all day with nothing but still once I start I don't want to stop. Today wasn't the best day, not sure why but yesterday I felt great. I have to take lots of pills in the am and that alone makes my egg size pouch hurt. Sometimes it hurts all day, like today. Doesn't matter much though because yesterday was great and I look forward to tomorrow. Can't ask for more than that.

Well that is enough talk for now and I look forward to reading about a wedding, a trip to Finland, and more planning for our fantasy! to all my Disney friends!

Yes!! We were wanting to do the Orient Beach excursion and it seems that all the beach excursions are gone. Hopefully Disney will bring them back by then. We will not go on an excursion on our own, and there doesn't seem to be much that appeals to us now. If it stays the same we will just stay on the ship.

Woo Hoo! And the post on the Caring Bridge is even better, DizDaddy and Sues14! See their earlier post for the link.

To help celebrate here is a link to OUR upcoming ship...

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=42740420&postcount=253

Take care everyone

Thanks for mentioning the CaringBridge site again. I love this site because it is free (operates by donations), allows posting of updates, allows journal readers to leave encouraging messages, and lets you record a timeline of events much like these boards. Plus the things that you don't want to openly share, you can create an entry and just leave it in draft status unpublished. You can post pics also. I can't say enough good things about the site because it gets a bit exhausting repeating things over x number of phone calls. I hope no one has the need for the site, but if life takes that turn, it is a phenomenal tool to have on your side.

Best of all, Tonys mom will be able to read thru all of it and see what happened when. Many of her days passed are still a blank canvas to her.

Anyway, here is the link again...and thanks for all of the prayers!
