**Fantasy Becomes Reality** Group--5/19/2012 (INDEX/ROLE CALL, PAGE 1--ENTRY 1)

HI Everyone!!
I'm back and hopefully can post more regularly. Things have just been NUTS around my house. After coming home from our Disneyland trip, my work got insane and continues to be really busy. Baby is keeping my hands full with teething. AND I'm trying to get together my awesome trip in 2 WEEKS with Kathy!!! WOOOOO!!!!
I can't believe how close we are to the 1 year mark. Only 19 more days until we are at 1 YEAR!!!
Welcome to all the new people. I'm sure the boards will now pick up more the closer we get. I'm debating about whether I should start doing FE's again and selling them. I don't have as much time as I used to, but not to be snobby- I sure do like my designs!! :D
As for the name....I'm not too sure about the Jump Up idea, it sounds odd to me. I've been thinking about names. As for EAC- which Nemo defines as the Eastern Australian Currant. If we did EAC I'd recommend changing it to be a meaning of our cruise cause unfortunately we aren't going to Australia on this cruise :p.
Like- EAC on the Fantasy (Eastern Adventure Cruise)
RUMmaging around the Eastern (get it? all the rum factories and kids wont' understand it) *My new fav*

That's her Sues! She was assistant with Alexander (my husband really bonded with him...) when we had her in 2009 and I think it was one of her first cruises... poor thing, she was so timid back then. Was happy :cheer2: to see her again this past January...

~Carole

Carole----she was great on our cruise, and just a great bond. We are in contact 1-2 times a week. We exchange cards, and frequent messages. She is looking at becoming a teacher in Austria; I don't quite understand the process, but she has to get approval to pursue that profession. After leaving the Magic, she went to work at a castle in Austria. She went to Australia for a couple of months earlier this year to visit a friend---got a postcard from there. She is doing great----we have even encouraged her to join our cruise as a passenger.

Was your last cruise on the dream or the wonder?

it was on the wonder and was just last month (we totally scored w/ it being spring break AND kids sail free! )

oh and an update on us...mil and fil and their two little ones are going to join my parents and us. (we went on our last cruise w/ the il's but we were having to convince them to spend the $ to go on another one) anyway...they didn't want to pay for a verandah room so we were going to try and get them an inside cabin across the hall. we didn't care where we were deck or front/back but the woman dh spoke with today could NOT find 2 connecting verandahs across from a available inside cabin. apparently their system doesn't show a map of the decks w/ cabins available. so...we are now all inside cabins in order to be by each other. i'll get the udpdated cabin numbers posted soon.

oh and they will have a 6 yo boy and an almost (by a month) 5 yo girl when we sail.

I agree that the jump up phrase is odd to me, too. Interesting bit of info about the Caribbean though. Watching the royal wedding, I learned that a "knees up" is a UK name for a party. These phrases make our term "party" rather boring! :)

From your list, I like these:
* EAC on the Fantasy - I agree that we'd mean Eastern Adventure Cruise, and I like that it rhymes.

* Fantasy Friendship Fusion / Fusing Friends aboard the Fantasy

* Still like Fantasy Becomes Reality from earlier ideas that were thrown around

Here's another suggestion - Fun, Friends, and the Fantasy / Friends, the Fantasy and Fun! Something like that.

Sorry if I'm being a downer with this because I don't want to be a pain, but as a non-drinker, I'd vote against the RUMmaging title. Maybe others would agree, or maybe not. I'm not really comfortable with that one and wouldn't necessarily want it on a shirt me or my niece would wear. It is clever for sure, though, and channels Cap'n Jack! :) ETA: Just to be clear - I totally DON'T have a problem in any way with those who do drink. I just hope we can land on another name. That's my two cents...

Glad to hear that, so far, no one in the group suffered loss of life/health impact from the storms. It's been crazy weather - I'm glad we're cruising in May so as to hopefully avoid bad weather and welcome calm seas!:cool1:

Life is busy busy busy but wanted to take a quick moment on the name.

Love the Rummaging around the Eastern name but completely get that it may not work for non-drinkers soooooo, my next choice is EAC on the Fantasy!!!

Great suggestions everyone!!!!

A brief update: I did some digging around on what this whole "FE" thing is, then discussed it with my wife and asked if she wanted to take part, and she looked at me like, "what, are you kidding? You have to ask?"
So we'll be participating in the FE.

I don't have a strong feeling in any particular direction as to what the group should be named, I'm just looking forward to being there! :woohoo:

I agree with donaldsgal; we are non-drinkers as well and would be put off by the RUMaging title. I also don't think it would be appropriate for kids to be sporting stickers/magnets/shirts with that title. I don't want to be a downer either, but there have been many better suggestions.

And I'm really amazed at how busy this thread is over a year before the cruise. How does everyone already know each other so much? It seems like half the boat is in the group. (We're really new to the DIS so forgive us for being quiet and shy; it can be quite intimidating to join such a big group.)

FE Exchange will be fun. Once I get a moment, I'll put together FE information.

As for the name...choose what you want, I gave me input. As being from UTAH and an ex-drinker, I love the Rummaging name. It's fun, but to each their own. I'll vote on a name when the time comes. Good Luck

Hi Everyone! I hope your Monday is treating you well...

Between work and medical, haven't posted much but am reading. One thing I want to say is to all of the non-Key Lime Pie-rates, please don't feel like an outsider.

Yes, there are some that are closer than others and go on cool vacations together to Disneyland and don't ask the rest of us... :sad2: (JorDan/Kathy, I am picking on you :rolleyes1 ) but in general, we all know each other from the one cruise and online on FB. (I am happy to friend all of you btw). I was not able to spend a ton of time with the group on that cruise becuase of my grump of a husband  so that is why he is staying behind this time!

That being said, I feel a bit nervous and shy too because I am going on this ship with 2 young kids and no adult as my "default" to hang out with. I need you guys -- all of you guys -- to help me feel like I have an adult family to chill with.

I am still waiting for a date to Remy (assuming we can get a date). Any takers? Carole? Anyone else? Also dinner/brunch at Palo?

I will try to post more often and get some pictures up. I would love to share one of my DD Sabrina and her brace. It looks like a corset -- very shapely and very scary to see your 9 your old like that :scared1:

Have a good day everyone!

wow, where did everyone go? i was coming to expect to be able to get a "fix" of new posts any time i checked in (multiple times per day, lol!)

anyway, one more update, we are now back at verandahs. lame i know, i sure hope this is the last change *fingerscrossed*

one other question (hopefully i'm not alone here now and just asking myself :rotfl2: ) can someone explain the category system to me? what is the difference between 5a b and c? what about cat 4, cat 5 etc (also where do they start and end? this is our 2nd cruise i *think* we were cat 7 last time? and we were on deck 7 so i thought they were connected at the time but now we are again on deck 7 but cat 5 so...? thx!

Hi everyone, sorry we have been MIA for a little bit, Kevin our DS was in the the hospital. He is out now but it was a long weekend and really no answers. He has been tired a lot, been sick to his stomach every day for 8 days, not eating much and night sweats, he is feeling better and will get all his blood test results next week, so we wait! I will tell you it is so different having an adult son in the hospital. Having the dr come in and talk to him and him making the decisions, I feel like I lost all control! Why oh why do they have to grow up? We have a busy few months coming up, our daughter Kelsey will be 18 this sat and graduating in June. Tony has a big project at work that he is in charge of and it won't end until July. He will be putting in very long days so he might be a little quieter than usual, I doubt it though we will see! I hope all is well with everyone, we had alot of chatter I think it's great!

Well the end of the school year is in sight here and we have been busy busy busy!

I haven't had a chance to read over the entires thread(s), so can someone let me know who to contact to be put on the FE list? TY :)

I am not to bothered with the name, no matter what we call it the Dis signers will come up with an awesome graphic and it will be great!

I will put a couple of names out there:
Fantastic Voyage
Fantasy Island Hop

Happy Hump Day all! Let's hope this week goes by fast and all us mommies get a weekend of pampering!

Good morning!

First, there is an update on the progress of the Fantasy! Noticable change!

We are here, but as Susan explained, it's been a busy several days!!! But I know how you feel....I come to this thread, looking for updates, and when there isn't one, I'm bummed!

I have some updating to do.....name suggestions aplenty, and I will get this updated as well.

one other question (hopefully i'm not alone here now and just asking myself :rotfl2: ) can someone explain the category system to me? what is the difference between 5a b and c? what about cat 4, cat 5 etc (also where do they start and end? this is our 2nd cruise i *think* we were cat 7 last time? and we were on deck 7 so i thought they were connected at the time but now we are again on deck 7 but cat 5 so...? thx!

I can't answer these questions, but there is a very knowledgable resource on the boards here that goes by the name 'HallsofVA'. Vast, extremely impressive knowledge of the ships and the accommodations, features, etc. Do a search on existing entries for that user, and you will find LOADS of information. Send them a message and ask your questions....I'm confident you will get a quick response.

For those 8 days, it was immediate sickness each morning (pregnancy test was negative :lmao:). We are hoping for answers soon. Bloodwork is to rule out or confirm either Ciliac's disease and/or gluten allergies. I would not want to be a 21 year old that doesn't know how to cook much, dealing with either of those outcomes.

We have a busy few months coming up, our daughter Kelsey will be 18 this sat and graduating in June.

....not to mention senior pics, prom, senior gift, birthday gift, Mother's Day and our anniversary all this month. And we wonder why the cruise isn't paid off yet... :faint:

Tony has a big project at work that he is in charge of and it won't end until July. He will be putting in very long days so he might be a little quieter than usual, I doubt it though we will see!

I work at a software development company that markets a business solution for hospitals. Our annual release is scheduled for 7/1, and I am managing the audit of the product over the next 8 weeks. It's a massive undertaking each year, and sits squarely on my shoulders, so it's longer hours and less DisBoard time. :sad2:

I hope all is well with everyone, we had alot of chatter I think it's great!

In the month of April we had quite a few new groups join us on the thread, moreso than in recent memory. Again, WELCOME to everyone! party:

Take care, and have a great day....

Thanks for the update! :thumbsup2

I wish they would get around to announcing the details of things like the Atrium Statue, Restaurant Names, Bar Names, etc.. I know its basically the Dream with a different name, but I'm ready to hear about the few things that will be different!

Also, my new bet for the Atrium Statue is Minnie (Although personally, I feel it should be all Donalad, all the time:donald::donald::donald:). Minnie has been at all the the events fro the Fantasy (like the keel laying ceremony) just like Donald was for the Dream

Good Morning Everyone:

We are in home stretch for the end of school here in SD - so life is hectic. DD2 in playing a Munchkin in a Wizard of Oz Production - so lots of transporting to and from practices. DD1 is prepping for finals and assisting with HS play as well as busy with part time job in a coffee house.

Our DD3 was born with a severe heart defect - HLHS. She has had 3 open heart surgeries and has a pacemaker. Just had her Cardiology checkup and everything looks wonderful - Dr. said we didn't have to come back for 12 months. That will be first time in her entire life that we have been allowed to wait 12 months for a cardiology visit. Big Milestone!!

We are busy prepping for our Orlando trip on May 21-29. Plan to visit Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios - very much looking forward to Star Wars weekends!

We still have kept the cruise a secret from the kids - we will see how long that lasts

Finishing coffee and off to a haircut. Everyone have a lovely day!

Things here are pretty rough.

I had my wisdom tooth pulled last week and I haven't been able to eat anything without mashing it up since. My jaw is in so much pain, but that is the least of our worries right now. I'm sure it will get better as the days go by.

My mom had a spinal fusion in 2001 and a knee replacement in 2006. Her back went out Wednesday by Saturday she was unable to walk. The Dr called in some meds to help get her at least able to move but things are really hard. I got her into work today, and once there she is doing ok, but will have to go pick her up later. She has to conserve her sick days as she is meeting with her Orthopedic Surgeon to discuss another fusion, and disc surgery. I don't know how to help her more then I am already and I worry about her being in so much pain.

I'd love to say that having this cruise to look forward to makes it easier but in my practical side, all I can say is that its hopeful that we'll get to still go, but only time will tell. :(

So if I'm quiet its not that I am ignoring we just have a lot going on right now.

Greetings! We are a family of 5 and just booked this wonderful cruise today!
