Question. I see a lot of people NOT getting insurance. Does anyone consider that a big risk considering the investment?

I used to get ins throught my TA that was the same company that DCL uses, Access America, but was about half the price. Also DCL insurnce doesn't cover Pre Existing conditions which my parents have. Then I realized my TA's insurance only covers the cruise price. So lately I've been buying from www.insuremytrip.com. They are even cheaper than my TA and I can include the cost of airfare and the hotel precruise.

We were basing out price expectation off the cost of the dummy cruise we book which was a 10/1/11 7 night western. The Fanstasy cruise is several hundred cheaper than what we were planning for.

Last week aboard the Magic, Russell the rebooking agent indicated the MV will be 3/31. I don't see anything in the list of cruises that anyone has indicated that date.

That is because the purpose of this thread was to track prices on opening day, which was last October. At that time the MV for the Fantasy was 4/7/12. It was changed to 3/31/12 right before Christmas.

We are booked for 18 August 2012. We have booked two cabins - both 5D.

The first is 1A1C. The price was $3617.40.
The second is 2A1C. The price for that one was $4733.10.

This was the full price with no discounts. No insurance or transfers, just cruise only.

Woohoo. I'm so excited. It actually feels real now we have booked. Only 518 days to go.

You can probably do a whole lot better buying airfare on your own. Plus, that way YOU decide what flight is best for you, not letting DCL decide. I think there's a way to change the DCL-chosen flight but they charge an additional fee pp. Someone else can explain this better.

Chances are, DCL will fly you down the same day as your cruise. Which usually means waking up at 4am, and taking a huge risk if you have any mechanical or luggage delays. Even if all goes well, unless you're used to waking up that hour, you'll all be deliriously tired that 1st night. Most Dis-ers agree it's much smoother to fly down the day before. Even if it's the night before (after school/work), you still get a good night's sleep and just have to make your way to the port in the morning.
There are plenty of reasonable hotels near MCO and can get something very nice from Hotwire for well under $100. jmho

Thanks for the advice. We had flight Disney before to go to DW. Their prices are actually very competitive and If I flight DCL transportation is included and they need to make sure I arrive on time to their cruise. If I find a better price I will definitely change but for now the price was fair. I flight during high season in New England. With DCL it was $420 per person. Last year we travel to DW and bought flight apart and it cost almost $550 per person.
