It seems the Fantasy pricing is steep for the Fall dates, or is it just me?:confused3

It's definitely not 'just you.' We always cruise around Halloween when our kids have 3 days off school. This year it's the 1st week of Nov.

We usually pay around $3500 for a 7 nt. for 4 of us in a cat 9 cabin on deck 2. This past Oct we only paid $3200 after onboard discount. The same week on the Fantasy, equiv cabin would be 9B $4168. Even factoring in onboard discount, this is still much, much higher than our last 7 nt cruise.

It's not even just that it's a new ship. Our Nov 2011 B2B on the Dream is $3489 and that's with us in a cat 8D. Usually the shorter cruises cost more per night so a 3 + 4 nt B2B is generally more expensive than 1 7 nt cruise but not with the Fantasy.

Glad I'm not the only one. We were looking at the last week Of Sept. or first week Oct. (my kids fall break). Way more then I thought it would be. I guess I will look at a BtB on the Dream.

Guess we will hold out and see if demands decrease hopefully followed by a price decrease.

May 12, 2012
Fantasy - Western Caribbean

2 Adults - Category 5C - with Transfers (no insurance)
$3,351.40

Moved a 'dummy date' to Dec 8, 2012, Western Caribbean.

2A2C (ages 8 and 12 at the time)
11C
10% discount applied, no transfers, no insurance.
$3214

This breaks down to 868 per adult, 756 per child.
We were quoted the same rates for the Eastern itinerary for Dec 1 and 15, though the port fees and taxes are a bit higher (+48.20)
We may also try to get this changed to 10C and if that happens, I will update the pricing.

I also agree that pricing is higher, and more than I was expecting. A similar cruise in Jan 2012, on the Magic, with the 10% discount, would be 2680 to 2715, in Category 11B. So the premium for the Fantasy, at least for us, is about $500. Also, the same date in Dec 2011 would be 2820 (cat 11B) with the 10% discount, so a $400 premium. I was told by our TA (with DU) that one can't really compare Fantasy pricing to Magic pricing as there is increased demand for the newer ships and prices will reflect that.

At least we are in early on the pricing, and the 10% discount helps. Our cruise this past January was 2615, with the 25% Canadian discount - and we booked quite late.

Got more quotes for 10A and 9B.

3415.60 = 10A (I had noted this as 10C above, but only 10A exists on the new ships)
3352.60 = 9B

We booked 4 rooms on the Fantasy - 8/25/2012
No transfers and no insurance and all reflect a 10% onboard discount

2A - 5A - $3154
2A,1C(9) - 5A - $4164
2A - 8B - $2561
2A,1C(5) - 8B - $3521

Question. I see a lot of people NOT getting insurance. Does anyone consider that a big risk considering the investment?

I think that a lot of people (myself included) buy insurance, just not through Disney.:thumbsup2

Thanks.

I bought it through a 3rd party at $196.

The Disney insurance was $450!!!!!
