i just wanted to give a heads up to anyone who was on the 01/30 Fantasy sailing and received the 20% off discount.

I happened to be in the atrium area of the ship when the 20% announcement was made. I noticed the line starting to build at the future cruise desk, so I got in line. I booked a future cruise, but was told they did not have a discount code for the 20% at that time. They told me that I would have to call when I arrived home to have the discount applied.

As a side note, they told me that they found out about the discount offer the same time we did. When the Captian made the announcement.

Later that day, we received the letter in our room, and I went back to the future cruise desk to ask if I would need to cancel what I booked. I was again told that I would just need to call when I arrived home and it would be applied.

Today I called and was told that the discount did not apply to bookings done on board. I then asked if that meant I could now book another cruise with the 20% discount. I was told that the reservation system shows the 20% discount being applied to my onboard booking even though it was not. Neither he nor his supervisor could help me. I was told I needed to email guest communications.

There are so many moving parts to this and I can understand the confusion. I just wanted to give everyone a heads up in case you will fall into the same boat as me. No pun intended. You may want to call if you booked onboard as I did.

I will most likely call a second time to speak to someone different before going the email route.

Hmmm. Interesting. We had already booked our next cruise early in the week before the announcement. When checked to see how all this worked and were told if we wanted to use the 20% for the cruise we already booked we'd have to call when we got back. They for all intents and purposes would cancel and re-book that cruise using the 20% but we would loose the on board credit and have to pay the difference between the discounted deposit and the normal deposit.

We opted to leave that cruise in tact and book a future on using the new discount. I guess we should check to see what they've done.

Thanks for the heads up

Edit: quick follow up. Just check our reservation on line and it matches the confirmation they sent us during the cruise. No extra discount so it looks like it will work the way they told us.

@allears I finally had a chance to call DCL s second time. This time I was told the same say you, my onboard booking stands with 10% off plus the $200 room credit and I still have the 20% off discount to apply to a future cruise. Glad you were told the same.

I am thinking about pocketing the 20% discount for an Alaskian cruise and keeping the onboard booking intact. Time will tell as cruise prices have really appreciated in the past four years.

We're holding onto it for an additional cruise as well.
