We're bringing our 3 yr old to Disney World for her second visit. She visited last year, too. She's never, and I've never seen Fantastmic, but I know I'd love to. Will she like this show, or be scared to death of the effects? She rode Pirates of the Carribean last year @ 2yrs old and held up fine. Also, how do toddlers take to the Haunted Mansion? Thanks!

It depends on the child. My sister and mother assured me that my 5-yr-old DD would love it, because my niece did when she was 5. Unfortunately, it scared the crap out of my more timid child. Is she scared of fire/fireworks and loud noises? If so, it might be too much for her.

My daughter is pretty tough, but at 3 yrs old she used the chicken exit at Haunted Mansion and the villians during Fantasmic scared her to death-also it's really loud-so even if she covered her eyes the loud music still scared her.

We did Fantasmic on both of our trips. First trip my kiddos were ages 6,3&2. They loved it! They also did fine on the Haunted Mansion. They all wanted to do it all again our last trip, my girls were aged 3 & 4 and LOVED Fantasmic. They were a little nervous on Haunted Mansion, but didn't get scared or cry or anything of that nature. I'm sure you will have a great time, what ever you choose, but Fantasmic is a must see in my opinion.

Oh, and since you have never been to the show, it can get kind of chilly (IMO) and the water mist can get you a little damp. We opt for bringing a light jacket for the kids, as they seem to get a little chilly. Also, sitting up higher will help a lot. Our first trip we had no idea and ended up cold  and it was at the end of March so we didn't bring a jacket or anything. Now, we go prepared just in case.

Good Luck! :thumbsup2

The first time we saw Fantasmic, we knew my older son would freak out with the fireworks. So, when they're herding people into the theater, I stopped a CM and and explained that we were unsure if he'd be scared and knew we'd be leaving before the fireworks. They were super nice and sat us on the top row at the end, so we wouldn't have any troubles getting out.

You could try this and that way you could give it a shot. Having said that, **SPOILER** there is a large dragon that pops up that Mickey fights that's pretty scary.

My 3 year old LOVED it!

But he is also my first 3 year old to hate haunted mansion (the other two went on it starting at age 1 or so and have loved it ever since.) But, this 3 year old loves TOT and the others didn't at his age....go figure.

So, it could depend on the kid.

We haven't seen Fantasmic so I can't help you there.

When my dd was that young I would be glo sticks at the dollar store (or necklaces, bracelets, etc) and crack them before going on the dark rides. Worked like a charm and she never freaked out.

Great suggestions.

She loves fireworks. Saw the Wishes show last year from right underneath them outside Small World and it was loud as could be and she loved it. So, she should like Fantasmic. I will take the suggestions and sit up top.

As for Haunted Mansion, she rode Pirates of the Carribean and did OK, and was also good on the Jungle Cruise. My wife insists she'll be fine, so I told her a Haunted Mansion freak-out was on her. HAHA! Thanks!

My DD saw Fantasmic along with our friends little girl when they were both 3. My DD loved the show and wanted to see it again during our trip but our friend's DD hated it and spent most of the show with her head buried in her mom's lap.

Really not too scary until the end when, as pointed out, Mickey fights the dragon.

Similar, in a way, to Sleeping Beauty and Malificent !! (Gosh I hope I got it right)

I think if your DD can handle Malificent then she can handle Fantasmic.

My DD absolutely loved it at 2 and at 3. But there was another kid screaming horribly behind us both times. Could go either way. Give it a shot. She did have some problems with a few attractions being dark. We bought her one of those Mickey heads with the colors that spin inside that they sell before the fireworks shows. We told her it was her magic Mickey and if she got scared she could turn that on and he would protect her. After that she was much more willing to do things that she was a little apprehensive about. You'd just all of a sudden see it light up, and you'd know to give her a little closer hug.
