For those considering resale or direct, I wanted to share my recent (third total) resale experience which went fantastic, and I even have an earlier than expected trip planned!
*The following isn’t to say everyone’s experience will be the same, it simply brings balance to the often negative posts about resale.
We bought SSR in April for SAP, primarily at Aulani, and snagged the UY we wanted with full 2020 points banked into 2021.
We paid $116 a point when direct was $165, a savings of $12,250 on our 250 points.
We had our points loaded and ready to use in about three months, could have been a tad faster, but the sellers had to wait on a planned trip.
At the 7 month mark we booked a trip to Aulani for my wife’s birthday, AND just the other night was able to book a studio for a week at Aulani in September that we already had off of work…Hawaii beats our planned staycation!
From a smooth purchasing process primarily with DocuSign, to having our points available fairly quickly, AND a big savings over direct, we are quite happy with our purchase.
And the bonus is SSR has actually increased in value, which we certainly don’t plan for, but the guaranteed price advantage with resale certainly helps if/when you sell at a later date.
Again, this doesn’t mean resale is for everyone, just wanted to share one person’s great experience with it.
