We are leaving in a week for Disney & I am trying to see if it would be worth it to make a reservation for the Fantasmic dinner package. Can anyone tell me if it is? The show is at 9:00 so what time should we have a reservation for? Is it really worth it or should we just wait in line?

Hi Chrissy,

I suggest you go on the restaurant board and do a search. There are lots of threads floating around on this topic.

Basically, the FDP can prevent you wasting a lot of time lining up for Fantasmic. However, if you are going next week it might be very hard to get a PS. I would call as soon as you can and just take whatever they have available. For example, they won't give you an 8:00 PS if Fantasmic is at 9.

I would suggest making a reservation for a dinner package. With the package you do not have to wait in line for the 1.5to 2hours before the show to get a seat, but be there around 45minutes before the show starts.
Plus you have to eat anyway so going to a package dinner is a good use of your time.

Seems like I'm the only one, but I prefer not to have the package. I like to have my big meal as lunch (cheaper than dinner) and don't mind waiting in line for the show. Since it's at the end of the day it's kind of a nice way to wind down. So, if you can and can't get a spot don't worry about it too much.

Hi MM,

Definitely all depends on the time of the year!

Bob

I saw Fantasmic! in Aug 2003 and Jan 2005 and never had to wait in line to get a seat, I just get there 1hr-45mins before the show starts. I've looked into the package both times and decided against it both times. I don't like that you HAVE to sit all the way to the right of the theatre. I know there's "no bad seat" but I believe if it's preferred seating you should get to choose or be in the center. The first time I saw it, we actually got to sit on the benches ALL THE WAY DOWN FRONT...just by pure luck...we asked, they said "sure"....got wet, yeah, but it ROCKED! The second time we were right in the center and almost at the top. Still got a little wet, but the view was great. I just don't see the benefit.... but that's just my opinion....

Thanks everyone! I just called and got a 6:40 reservation for the day we wanted! My husband does not want to wait in line that long for a show and we wanted to sit at a buffet and eat dinner anyway so it all worked out! Thanks so much!

We walked right in at 7:30 (show was at 8:30) last Wednesday and got great seats. No standing in line to wait at all. The place was packed by showtime though. If you have little ones, you may not want to sit and wait that long but we enjoyed the rest after walking all day.

I don't think it's absolutely necessary to use the package for the time of year you're going.

We have never done the package and have always gotten into the show we wanted to see. What we do to pass the time is stop and get food on our way in and then eat it while sitting in the stand. Sometimes its actually dinner, sometimes its cookies and hot chocolate (or some other snack if its warmer weather). We have gone many different times and I will say that sitting in the middle is the best viewing and I would not like to be forced to sit off to the right side with a dinner package.

If I understand it correctly with the Fantasmic dinner package you have to be there 30 minutes before the show. Is that correct?

We are going during the last week in August and when we end up at MGM at night is a bit fluid and I don't want to be locked into a specific day or restaurant. Am I safe in assuming that if we got to the theater 45 minutes before the show we should be able to get seats? If that is the case then I may pass on the package if it only saves 15 minutes of waiting.

Any thoughts on this plan would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Yes, you do have to be there 30 minutes before the show. I'm glad you got the PS for the FPD - I've been trying for weeks to get one for between 5/17 and 25 and can not get one...

We've always gone in December to see Fantasmic! and as you can bring food in to the theater, we've always gotten our seats and one or two in our party have gone out and gotten turkey legs and other food...

Enjoy the show! It's fabulous.
