Going to WDW for the first time in 15 years. Is it possible to watch Fantasmic without doing one of the dinner packages?

Yes you can!! Just show up and get a seat or fastpass plus it if you like.

If you get a FP as your 4th or 5th FP of the day, arrive at least 45 minutes before the show begins.

Without a FP, show up at least 60 minutes before.

Or, go to the 2nd Fantasmic of the evening and arrive at least 30 minutes before. You didn't mention when you are going. Sometimes during busy seasons there will be 3 Fantasmics.

We arrive there Dec 28th for a few days. Shouldn't be too busy, should it?

It could be Standing Room Only. Do try to get a FP and you'll be seated in the reserved FP section - the left side of the amphitheater. If you are unable to get a FP, plan on arriving at least 90 minutes before the 1st Fantasmic.

Two years ago on New Year's Day, the first two Fants were Standing Room Only. After the first Fant, we came out of the amphitheater and the line for the 2nd Fant was already to the Hollywood and Sunset intersection.

If there are three Fants, you may want to go to the third show.

Ok stupid question, How for you get a FP+ for Fantasmic? I don't see it on MyDisneyExperience. Here is an even more stupid question (cause I too lazy to check) what park is it in? Epcot?

It is in HS, perhaps that is why you don't see it.
