Saw Fantasmic last night and I was disappointed about the Peter Pan scene. All of the stunts and flying was gone. Even Wendy did not do the fight scene with the Pirates on the back of the ship. Has this become a permanent change or was it just a strange situation? I hope it's not permanent. It lost some of the excitement without it.

Did it rain at all last night?

When it rains they generaly do not do the stunts, as the ropes and gear can have mostiure and such makes it unsafe for the stunt people to fly around.

Doubtfull this is permament, more likely a safety issue for the performer's.

It was raining about 30 prior to the performance. Glad to hear it was only a rain issue and not permanent.

It's actually amazing that they ran the show at all given how much rain we had in the area last night.

But if they did, it would definitely have been a modified show, there were probably several other changes as well that you may or may not have noticed, depending on what they could get dried off in time.

And they usually do the stunts when it isn't raining, this is one of the modifications that get made.

There were probably fewer characters on the Mark Twain, especially on the upper deck. Depending on how much rain there is, they may not do the fireworks on the Mark Twain, as it isn't safe to have people that are not strapped in on the top deck and the Chimney Sweeps are there to make sure the boat doesn't catch on fire again. Sometimes they will abandon the Mark Twain completely in the rain and use the island, like they do when the Mark Twain is down for rehab. There will usually be fewer characters on the island when this happens due to rain, as some portions get quite slippery in the rain. There are even times when the princes/princesses and Monkeys fail to even make an appearance due to rain or may not be dancing around the stage. The dragon will usually not show up in the rain, as they have enough problems with her normally. Mickey will usually stay low on the island or will only show up for defeating the dragon (either real or the water replacement) and at the very end, but will not go up to the really high point. You may also find that the evil queen doesn't go through her transformation.

The show can also be shortened due to rain and/or cancelled midway through.

Can you tell that I have seen the show a few times? LOL

So if all that happened was the lack of stunts in the Peter Pan scene, you did indeed luck out.

How much different is Fantamic at DL than DW? At DW....this is not one of our must sees....but we see so many raving about it is DL? Thoughts?

We had dessert seating for Friday nights show and it was cancelled due to the rain during the day. We took a break at our hotel around 3pm and by the time we went back out around 6pm the sky had cleared a little and it stopped raining so I was hoping they would still do the show. On the train ride over to New Orleans square they announced that the show was cancelled.

It's actually A LOT different and is definitely a must see at Disneyland. There are of course similarities, but there are a lot of difference. Just know that Disneyland's gets cancelled or modified due to even small amounts of rain. But since rain isn't very common out here, that doesn't usually pose too much of an issue.

While I've never seen WDW's version in person, from what I've seen on youtube and from others experiences, it's a must see because there are many differences, the biggest being there is no Pocahontas scene in DL, it's got a great Peter Pan scene in place. There are a bunch of other small differences, so it's worth seeing both and deciding which you like best.

Every one of my DLR trips is centered around Fantasmic...it is one of my Must Do's. I had the opportunity to go to WDW for the first time a little over a year ago and had to see Fantasmic. I laughed almost all the way through cuz I felt like I was watching the Orlando Community Theater version of Fantasmic! Though it was pretty sad. I was almost in tears by time they came out on their version of the Mark Twain. No comparison to DLR!

Last night, Saturday, was very little rain. 1st show went on then rain started. It was a good drizzle. Not enough to cancel Fantasmic, but enough to cancel the candlelight processional.

Friday night was the rainy night and Fantasmic was canceled.

I have seen the show many times. The only change I noticed was the Peter Pan. Monkey and princess scenes were the same, mark twain had the fireworks and all the characters even on the top, dragon and pinnoccio were the same, evil queen transformed. I would notice changes. One trip pinnoccio was missing and I noticed. . It was only Peter. I was just posting to make sure it wasn't a permanent change. Wendy not doing the fight scene did not seem like a rain issue to me so I thought that the show was changed.

A strategy that worked for us was to be in the FAR LEFT, this is facing the stage. And then hang out there right as the first show is ending. Everyone is heading to the right so you can swoop in and get front row seats! Enjoy!!!
