Just added a day (Sunday) to our original planned 2 weekdays and we'll be able to include Fantasmic. We've seen it in WDW but want to experience it at DL too. Since this is a last minute added day, I need quick help for viewing locations. I just noticed that two shows are scheduled for that night. Based on WDW, I think the second one would be less crowded but I'd rather see the first one. I remember reading about some locations but I didn't save the info because I didn't think we'd see it. Any specific recommendations? How early do I REALLY have to stake out a place for a 9:00 show?

If it's crowded that day and you want front-row you'll need to be there early. I've seen bigger groups & families setup camp at 6pm and take shifts (which is great if there are sleeping kids and tired parents).

If you don't want front-row stay nearby and 90-120 minutes before the show look at the size of the crowd. Some nights I've snagged good spots with less than an hour but those are for 2 spots and I'm often there on slower nights.

If you're ok with decent standing spots you can pull it off 45 minutes or so on most nights. Again, if it's real crowded the show will be real crowded.

And really consider the second show. It's much easier to get a good spot as they clear most people out cleaning up and you can pull a good spot just showing up after the first one clears (just be quick).
