We are going in July and have heard so much about the Fantasmic show and getting prefered seating with the dessert. Do you get to see the whole show? I have also read that some ppl miss the first half of the show bc they cant see the stuff on the bottom. I just want to make sure I make the right decision when making my reservations.

Also if we do Ariels Grotto or picnic do you have full view?

Thank you

As far as the Fantasmic! dessert thing, from what I understand, you definitely get a better view than everyone else. I haven't done it, so hopefully others will chime in, but there are two rows and you're in a cordoned off area in front of the general public. I think a lot of people around here think it is worth it.

For WOC, it's a bit different. Basically the viewing area is divided into different sections, and the people that pick the more expensive Ariel's Grotto (or Wine Country Trattoria) packages get tickets/FP's to the best section (Purple I believe). People that buy the picnic get FP's for the "good" sections (Blue and Yellow), and people that get free FP's in the morning have access to the same "good" sections as the picnic people, or the less desirable red section I believe. Paying for WOC is not as beneficial as the F! dessert package. Once you get to your section, it's kind of a free for all. It is standing room only and unless you are in the very front at a railing, you will most likely be dealing with people in front of you that are taller, or have their kids on their shoulders, etc. etc. Basically, all you have is a guaranteed place to stand, but there is no promise that you'll have a good view, even if you're in the preferred area. I've seen WOC three times in the Blue section, which is the closest to the water, and in each case I wasn't at a railing so I had to look over people's heads, and I am 5'7". Children, therefore, don't fare very well if they are behind someone tall. For that reason, I can't justify paying for WOC FP's, at least not for the most expensive package. I might consider getting a cheaper picnic if I didn't feel like waking up early to get a free FP, but that's about it.

Im so excited to see both that I want to make sure we see the whole show. Thank you so much for your advice!!

I am not sure what you read about missing the first half of the show because of stuff on the bottom. :confused3 That is really confusing to me because there is nothing on the bottom to see at Fantasmic!, but there is at World of Color.

With reserved seating at Fantasmic! you do see the entire show.

Here is a picture of the seating area. (It's an older picture so it may be slightly different, but it's the general gist.)

The riverfront/stage is to the right (off camera). The area where the people in pink are walking is a seating only area. No standing is allowed at all. You can see the chairs where the reserved seating area is.

I just re-read your post to make sure I covered everything you asked and I think there is confusion with with WoC and Fantasmic! You ask about Fantasmic! dessert package, but then mention Ariel's and the picnic which are WoC. :confused3

Just as the pp said about F!, that there is nothing on the river of the ROA that you are missing when you watch F! from the preferred seating.

Here is my picture of the F! dessert seating right by light tower b (the middle tower right across from CO).

I'm sorry to be confusing. I wanted to know about both shows. I read that someone ws eating at one of the restaurants and miss parts of fantasmic. And I wanted to make sure that if we reserve perfered seating @ ariels grotto that you see everything. And also to see if it is worth it for either shows.

Thank you so much for the pics!! That's helped a lot.
Yay!

okay, no problem there. :goodvibes

Okay, now that makes sense. So, if you look at the pics that I and mvf-m11c posted, starting at the riverfront, there is: riverfront, seating only area (concrete), stairs (not available for open seating), the reserved chairs (dessert package purchased for $$$), more stairs (no general seating), railing, people walking, restaurants (can't be seen in pics).

The area where people are walking gets roped off in half. The area nearest to the rail becomes standing area to watch Fantasmic! while the other part of that becomes a walkway. The restaurant patios have tables and chairs. BUT - if you sit there, you have people walking in front of you the entire show (and yes, they will be walking there the ENTIRE show), people standing in front of them, and then the people in the chairs (which you won't see bc of the aforementioned people), all semi-blocking your view. I would not recommend sitting in the restaurant patios for watching Fantasmic! for these reasons. You will not be able to see parts of Fantasmic!, as you read.

And I wanted to make sure that if we reserve perfered seating @ ariels grotto that you see everything. And also to see if it is worth it for either shows.
Okay, this part! Stop! (hehe) :rotfl: Back up the car! You have now switched to World of Color. (I think, unknowingly.) Ariels Grotto is in Disney California Adventure and is one of the restaurants that has the reserved dinner package for a WoC FP. You do NOT watch WoC from Ariels Grotto. You eat at Ariels Grotto, get your WoC FP as part of your package dinner, and then go over to the WoC viewing arena to claim your standing spot to watch the show.

Does that help? I hope so! :wizard: Let me know if I have helped, or made things more confusing (I hope not :goodvibes).

check out this link of pictures: it shows the areas that are roped off and other areas you can catch a seat and still see the show.

Can I do reserved seating for F! without the dessert thing? If so, where is that located in your picture.

One GIANT word of caution about that link: The information is VERY outdated. The dessert buffet that it discusses was done away with many years ago. It is NOT a buffet. It is a generous dessert box with sweets, fruits, and cheese and crackers.

One of the pictures may look familiar. :goodvibes

The only publicly available reserved seating is the F! premium viewing. You don't have to take a box if you don't want to but it will still cost the same.

We have park hopper tickets and plan on going to cal adventure to see WOC. Thank you for all of this wonderful info! Its helped out my planning.

Why don't they ever update. Is there not someone with that job to do. Really unfair b/c I hear that alot. But thank you for letting me know. Do you know if I can simply reserve a spot w/o having to get the dessert thing.

Your question was answered a few posts above. You can reserve a package but not take the dessert, but the price would be the same. That's the only way to reserve in advance.
