I am beginning to realize that attempting to plan to see both of these shows is like a full time job! My mom can't sit on the ground and wait for hours because she can't hardly get back up, and my kids are short so I really need them in the sit on the ground area for Fantasmic to be able to see, and I need blankets to hold places, or borrow against the kids college fund to buy fancy meals and desserts;), eat at River Belle Terrace for 4 hours, and it goes on and on and on. This is really starting to stress me out! If you are there there second week of June, you may cheer to know we may skip em all together. That is all.

We use the light tower trick for Fantasmic and go right after fireworks, waiting only 30 minutes. We've done it every time we've gone and it's never been a problem and our children are very small and can see great. We think the view is just fine and they both love the show. Usually on a day we're going to do fireworks and fantasmic, we go back for a late nap and then they can make it through the second showing of it.

World of Color we've always gone to the fire hydrant spot with a blue pass and they can see just fine and we can get in and out for bathrooms while we wait, usually 1 hr 15 minutes of waiting and eating yummy snacks. Your mom could go wait on a bench until closer to the show if she needs to and meet up with you guys maybe 15 min before it starts.

I have never seen either show. Well, to be fair, WoC was under contruction last time I was there. :) But I've only ever caught glimpses of Fantasmic! From all the trip planning and info here, it sounds like getting to see either one is a true investment of time and effort or loads of cash and there has always been too many other things I'd rather do with my time and money. After staking out curbside places for parades and fireworks, I'm tired and cranky and really don't want to unleash psychotic by attempting yet another show, certainly not one requiring up to 90 minutes of my time for 23 minutes of entertinment no matter how fantastic it is.

But if you really want to see one or both - and I'm sure many here would say you should, then you have to be willing to haul the blanket and set aside the time... or hire that guy who will do it for you. Not that I'm recommending him. Just saying it appears to be an option. :rolleyes1

When I went this summer I purposely went to the second show of fantasmic to see it. NO ONE LEFT after the first show. Seriously a handful of people left and everyone stayed because they had a great spot and watched it two times. I was so annoyed we waited in the area even during the first show to grab a great spot got all set up and no one moved. Finally we fluked out and got a really great spot but it was pure fluke. My ods is the one that loves it the most and he doesn't care too much for disney per se. So I really wanted to do it for him he had just graduated and it was his birthdy etc. They kind of need a better system.

I haven't seen Fantasmic recently, so I am not sure about that one, but I do have pics of the second WOC from Sunday, September 23rd. The WOC viewing area had almost no people in it. We showed up 10 minutes before it began and got an awesome spot.

This was the Blue area (but CMs weren't even collecting WOC FPs, so anyone could come in this area). We were up front at a railing.

As you can see, there is plenty of room!

I am not saying that every showing is like this now, but if you can do a second showing (as opposed to a day that has a single showing), I would do that. I was sort of expecting this because the second show FPs weren't even available that day until well past 5pm. We asked the CM when we walked by the WOC machines what show they were distributing and understood that meant the second show would be slow.

I have seen WOC about 8 times now, all in different areas and on different kinds of days. In my opinion, it is best to see WOC during the latest show possible and on a day with multiple shows. On days with only one WOC show, it tends to be pretty busy. Also good are days when the last WOC show is AFTER park closing. People don't plan on being at that show because in their mind, the park closes at 10pm, even though the WOC show might be at 10:15pm.

WOC doesn't have to be insane. I have seen it a few times now with little to no crowds, but you do have to stay up later and you do have to pay attention to how the WOC FPs are being distributed. But I find it is a small hassle for a big reward.

The bench would be a good idea for my mom. She can out walk me, but we discovered at Disney Jr last year at WDW she has a very difficult time getting up from sitting on the floor. We did the whole research and time commitment last year for hyperspace hoopla at WDW. You can stake out concrete around these trees where you can sit and then stand up on to see the show. We held our places from 5 to 8 so we were very cranky and just tired. I was amazed at the people who would walk up as the show was starting and want to push us out of the way or stick kids up on the ledge. One family said I can't believe you aren't going to allow our child to see the show! In my best Linda Blair exorcism voice I said we've been waiting three hours on this ledge. I didn't care if Mickey Mouse needed a spot! :) Once the show began I thought to myself if everyone just stayed seated on the ground, everyone could see. Even people toward the back could have seen perfectly. Disney does need better plans for their shows!

if you go back heres what you should do.
first things first; get a fp for WOD as soon as you get to the park. Otherwise they run out or you have bad seating.
If there are two shows for fantasmic, see the last show.
if you have a WOC fp and can get it for the first show you will be able to see both shows and while your waiting for F you will catch the fireworks as well!
