Fantasmic too scary?

Would Fantasmic be too scary for a 2.5 year old? He is a bit sensitive so I dont know if he would be scared or not. Is it something that's a must see or we can wait until they are both older?

it can be scary.. the music, the noise.. but the characters are pretty far away so I don't they would scare him.. I think Fantasmic is a must do but unless your never going back to WDW, it can certainly wait another year or 2.

We will def be going back once my sons is 5/6 and my daughter will then be 8 so maybe it would be better to just wait on that one. Plus the day we are at HS is the day before we are having a long day at MK with the Christmas party that night, it would probably be wise to do a normal dinner time than go back to the room not so late.

My youngest does not do well with "creepy". She turns her head during "Walking Dead" commercials or the like, wouldn't look at Darth Vader at DHS, etc. At 6, she found Fantasmic to be just downright horrifying. Fantasmic is essentially "Mickey's Nightmare". If that's the kind of thing that scares your child, I'd steer clear.

On a side note, nobody else in my family really liked it either. The water projection was kind of cool for the first minute, then the novelty wore off. Honestly, the pre-show festivities were way more fun than the show itself.

I don't think it is too scary, but there are loud noises and some effects that could startle a young one. It would depend on the child. Ours never had an issue and love the show, but my kids were never really scared of that type of stuff.

It's on youtube though it might not give you the full idea. I know it's done in a stadium and the waits are long and such; so, I showed it to my daughter (who is older, but has low level anxiety) and she let me know then it was a no go. So we have never seen it.

Our DS is not a fan of really loud things, so we've skipped it the past couple of trips. This year he seems like he'd like it so we're going to try it. I figure if he doesn't like it, I'll take him out and we'll head back to the resort.

It's a cool show, but I don't think it's scary. It's just loud.

I didn't even try until my son was 5. He's a nervous kid but he LOVED it!

Fantasmic is my personal favorite show at Disney. I always end up in tears at the end. But every time I've seen it, there are people leaving with crying kids.

That being said, I don't think I'll be taking my 2.5 year old to it when we go this fall. I think we'll wait until he's older. My son is not sensitive to big noises, but I don't want to scare him when he's too young to understand and make it so he doesn't want to see the show with us later.

• It's Mickey's nightmare.
• The dragon is HUGE and shoots fire at beloved characters and the audience.
• The audience can get wet as well as feel the heat from the fire.
• It's INTENSE visually and emotionally
• It's LOUD

Most of the kids I've seen really terrified are about 3-5 years old. Just old enough to understand some of what's going on, but young enough they don't get that it's "pretend."

If you decide you want to go, I'd make sure you sit at least 6-8 rows back. The people in the first several rows are the ones who are going to get the wettest and the most heat from the flames.
