Fantasmic Premium Viewing w/Dessert Sampler

When we did it in late July, I lined up at 7pm while the rest of the family went on rides (not everyone has to wait in line, only one person).

That is what we do. We get to DLR about every two years and each time our party has 1 or more Disney-neophytes in it (grandparents, significant others, etc.) and we want to give them a great special memory of their first visit. I wait in line (starting about 90 minutes prior to seating time) while the rest of the family do other rides (POC being a favorite) while I talk to everyone in line. Met some really fascinating people over the last few visits. Also, since we travel in a herd (5-9 at a time), if you want to sit together, you need to have a vanguard scout putting in the wait time.

I admit the cost is high, but compared to the over-all costs involved with the trip, it isn't that much and the memories (not to mention the real seats for grandparents to use) is well worth it for us. The desert samplers are a little too big so we end up with quite a bit of leftover, super sweet stuff in our hotel fridge to snack upon over the next few days.

Last visit we also did the VIP Holiday Parade seating and that was a BLASTparty:

Was in line by 7:10 and there were 20-25 people ahead of me already. My plan was to be here before 7pm, but I had forgotten about the parade and was stuck on Main St and had to walk all the way around the entire park in order to make it to HM and check-in cue. Very unhappy with myself!

I just did the dessert package/seating in July with DD9 and DS6. None of us particularly liked the desserts--though DD9 loved the unlimited hot chocolate. But, having seen other people's pics of the desserts and having heard the descriptions, I did tell the kids that they probably wouldn't love them--too sugary. (DS6 liked the cheese, crackers, and grapes, though.) In truth, the seats themselves were worth the (very high) price. My son is *still* talking about the show almost two months later because, even though we go to DLR at least once a year, this was the only time he was actually able to see the whole thing.

We did not line up at 6. Having read a lot of other people's awesome posts on the subject on this forum, I waited until 7 or 7:15 and was fine with the last row--because kids can *stand up* in the last row (or sit on their knees, or whatever makes it possible to actually see the show). We'd gotten FPs for BTMRR ahead of time, so after we got our seat numbers, we rode BTMRR, had the kids revisit the restrooms, and claimed our seats.

Would I want to spend that amount of money for great seats (and desserts no one liked) next year? Well, since we aren't made of money, probably not. But my son would pick doing it again over any other DLR experience--which means we'll probably do it again in a few years. :-)

When we did this in July, we went at 630 and there were already 8 people in front of us :confused3 We got okay seats off to the left but I was disappointed (and ended up with a concrete obstruction right in front of me).

Oh, and I totally had forgotten that I had to go to City Hall to actually pick up tickets:sad2:

I did the same thing. And it was the night of the Candlelight Processional. So to say Main Street was busy was sort of an understatement that night. :faint:
