We made ADRs for Mama Melrose. What is Fantasmic? Is there an extra cost?
Fantasmic is the outside night time spectacular at Hollywood Studios. Although the theater seats thousands, Disney has cut back on the number of showings per week so it usually fills the theater completely 45-60 min. before showtime, with hundreds getting Standing Room Only.
The Fantastmic Dinner package must be booked
as the dinner packageat either Mama Melrose, Hollywood & Vine, or Brown Derby. Your current reservation at Mama Melrose will not count -- you had to book it on the phone as a Fantasmic Dinner Package. It is a set price per person...we always use the dining plan for this, so I can't remember the exact costs when you're paying cash, but it's around $30 per adult for H&V, think it's about $38 for MM and $48 for Brown Derby...maybe someone who has paid cash for the package can give you the current amounts. If you're on the dining plan, it's 1 Table Service per person for MM and H&V; 2 table SErvice at Brown Derby because that's a signature restaurant. You get your meal, and a voucher which allows you to go in a separate entrance (no line) and sit in the reserved seating area at Fantasmic (which is the two right-hand sections of the theater as you face the stage.)
There are a few advantages -- one, you don't have to get in line 90 minutes before the show...and when you go to the theater, you walk up a shorter, less crowded entrance. And you can exit that way, too - which generally gets you out ahead of the "pack" since many people use the regular entrance as their exit. And you know you'll have a seat when you show up 45-60 min. before the show (sometimes it's already standing-room-only at that point, except for the people having the voucher for the package seats. We've been there 60 minutes before show time and they were turning peope away - even standing room only was full an hour before the show started.)
There are a limited number of tables set aside for the package, and these package reservations typically book up within the first day or two that they are available (which is 180 days in advance.) So if it's less than 180 days before the Fantasmic show you want to see, chances are all the packages are already booked...
