Fantasmic Package

But yet another question! I am torn between the Hollywood and Vine Character lunch at MGM with my son or doing the Fantasmic package at Mama Melrose's so we don't have to wait so long to see the show (he's 3). Any opinons? We are traveling in Dec....

DH and I did the Fantasmic package with dinner at Mama Melrose. I wasn't too pleased with my dinner however. I ordered pasta and it was definetly overcooked. It had that gumminess that it gets when sitting in the water too long. I forgot what DH ordered, but he said it was "ok". Since you have a young child, this maybe a good place. I wouldn't judge my experience on one time. I would try again. I loved being at the show early.

I've heard that Mama Melrose isn't great either TBH...

Since you have a young child, I think you might be more better suited to H&V where you can both pick what you want from the buffet?? I don't know if they'll do it, but you can explain your dilemma to disney dining see if they can help you: say your son really wants to see the Playhouse Disney characters at H&V, but since he's only 3 you don't want to wait long. They may give you a Fantasmic pass, maybe not - but at least you asked!!

We did the Fantasmic package at H&V, and the food wasn't the best. We did it twice, and the first time the food was ok, but the second time it was just wasn't good at all. However, I've been hearing lots of bad reviews about Mama Melrose's lately, so I think I would go with H&V anyway. The character meal should be fun, and I think it's just a hit-or-miss place. Hopefully you will have a good experience. As far as the Fantasmic package goes, you should be able to get a decent regular seat if you get to the theater early enough. I was never pleased with the reserved seats that are shoved on the extreme right side of the theater anyway.
