Fantasmic package...worth it?

I currently hold a ressie at Hollywood and Vine for the fantasmic package. After reading the poor reviews on H&V I decided to see if I could switch the ressie to Mama's. Unfortunately there are no opening for any of the restaurants for the package. Now I'm wondering if it is worth it. If the meal is crummy and the show isn't that great...I'd rather spend my credits elsewhere. I have 3 kids...7, 4 and 1. None of them are particularily skittish. What would you do? I guess there is always the option of eating where we want and then attending the show without the special seating. If we do this will the seats be cruddy? How early would we have to be at the arena? Lots of questions, but we've never done Fantasmic...

We did H&V fantasmic last year on the day after Thanksgiving. While we didn't love the food at H&V (think cafeteria food) the package was great. We didn't have to stand in a 2 hour line to see the show. The line was literally huge, all the way down the path to beauty and the beast ant into the strret beyond and still standing waiting when we sat down in our seats to wait for the show right at an hour before. We got snacks and drinks and just waited. This was when there were 1-2 a night every night. I can only imagine how bad the line will be this year at the same time. We were lucky enough to sang a Brown Derby package, but at 90+5 there were none to be had at Mama Melrose. I think it is the hardest one to get with the package. Anyway, I would definitely keep the package over standing in line for 2 hours with young kids. I know mine is not particularly impatient, but even she couldn't handle standing in line with nothing to do for that long.

If the lines continue to be like we saw in August then I would keep the package just to avoid them. If you really want to see Fantasmic then it would be worth it regardless of the restaurant...in all of the times we've been to WDW I have never seen such a long line for anything!
