My youngest has a finite amount of time she can last in the parks.....yet we hold out hope for Fantasmic on our next trip. If it looks like a no-go by afternoon, I'm wondering if there is a penalty for cancelling out on the Fantasmic dining package at Mama Melrose's.

Thanks to anyone who might have this info. :goodvibes

Lorelai - I know when we booked our ADR for the Hollywood & Vine Fantasmic package we had to secure the reservation with our credit card. I believe you have to give them 48 hrs. notice if you are cancelling that ADR or they will bill that card automatically. I'm sure that policy holds for any Fantasmic package restaurant.

i WOULD call as they took our CC for this as well and WILL charge for no shows/ not enough cancellation notice...AGAIN, call 1407wdwdine and ask, and then make your decision...

I find this interesting. I reserved the fantasmic pakcage for Hollywood Brown Derby using a credit card as well. However, after reading this thread:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1204811&referrerid=93883&highlight=fantasmic+8%3A20+late
it's apparent that Disney expects their customers to respect their rules but not vice versa.

As stated above, if there is any doubt, cancel the reservation and you will still most likely be able to get decent seats.

Yes, there is a penalty. If you don't cancel by 48 hours in advance, your credit card will be charged $10 per person.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll have to see how she does on the first few days, and then cancel 48 hours in advance if she seems to not be going the distance. I hope that the cancellation frame is still at 48 hours. Thanks again!

It is indeed 48 hours because I am trying to get reservations and have been calling every few days hoping that someone has cancelled and CM's confirmed that they have 48 hours to do so

we currently have a 5:20 ADR for MM on 10/3 but am hoping to switch it to a package so that we dont have to worry about seating--although that time of year I dont think it will be too crowded

Thanks for the confirmation on cancellation time.

I hope that you can get the dinner package you want. But I think that you are right about October being a good time of year not to have to worry about that. Have fun! :goodvibes

Last December it poured all day when we were to go to this. It was still drizzley at about 4:30 and our reservation for H&V was for 5. When I called to cancel they said even if it is raining the show will go on and it was to late to cancel. We lost $30 but I didn't want to take the chance and go through rain to get to it. This year we will not be making reservations and take our chances.

I hope your crowd projections are correct.:goodvibes

You could, of course, still eat at Mama's and then not go to Fantasmic. We had a very early dinner ressie (4pm) but my husband and daughter were already pooped and went back to the hotel. DS and I stayed for Fantasmic.

Why not hit the park at opening, then go back to the hotel around noon to crash and nap? You'll have plenty of time to get back to MGM for dinner. Both our kids are teenagers, and we always plan on mid-day breaks when we can (and they'll nap, too).

Give them a call. In June we called the day of to see if we could move our Mama Melrose Fantasmic seating to a later time and they said there were no openings later on the package but we were welcome to drop the package and get a later table without it with no problems, and thats what we did.

We will definitlely not be entering Disney Studios until mid-afternoon on our Fantasmic day - we'll try to be very low key until afternoon.

The problem is, my little lady has an early to bed, early to rise, internal clock. No matter what, she just poops out around 7 or 8. We've tried to adjust her clock, but to no avail. It's actually suits us perfectly, as we like getting out early. The one exception however is a late night at the parks. And by late, I mean maybe 10pm - I know, we're lame.

We could just cancel the dinner package & eat @ Mama Melrose's on that day, hoping to make it until Fantasmic. Thanks so much for all the advice. I think just eating there without the package might be the most economical way to go, especially if we're not sure she is going to last.

By the way, does anyone know if Lights, Motors, Action is a show in which you can enter after it has already begun? We are planning on hitting that show between Dinner & Fantasmic - but we may be a bit late - do they allow late entrance??
