Fantasmic Package--Is it worth it????

I was wondering if there is still a problem with people getting seated that have the Fantasmic package?

Last year, there was a lot of discussion about some people not getting reserved seats even though they had the package. Has this situation improved?

From what I've read on the DISboards, the problem seems to be an assumption that just because you have a fantamic voucher from dinner that you can waltz in at the last minute & be assured of your seat in the dining section. Not so anymore with fantamic shows being limited. The dining section gets opened up to the general public now prior to the showing when it's crowded, with is now usually always.

To play it safe I've read recommendations to arrive at least 40 minutes early, you might get by at 30 minutes if you want to chance it. Again, this depends upon how large a crowd shows up.

Whether it's worth it or not depends upon you. For me, I think it's worth it to not have to wait in line for more than an hour with Bubba standing behind me after he's been out all day sweating & getting ripe - lol

If you plan on purchasing the dining plan, by all means do the Fantasmic Dinner Package. Not only do you get reserved seats for Fantasmic but you get appetizers with your meal that are not normally included with the DP. We did this during our May, 2010 trip. The voucher we received at Mama Melrose's with our dinner package said to arrive 30-45 minutes before the start of the show. You enter through the exit for your reserved seating. We arrived about 35-40 minutes before the show began and were seated in the 5th row. The non-reserved seats were pretty much full when we arrived. It was not a long wait and there were vendors selling beverages (including beer) before the show started much like at a football or baseball game. Vendors were also selling glow-in-the-dark merchandise as well. The whole package was worth it to us. For more info and pics, go to the trip report link below.

Is the special entrance opened for this package. Last I heard you had to enter with the masses

And still cant arrive 30 minutes before showtime because your seats will be given to the general public before that time

is this still true?

There was a time before my trip in October last year where the people with the Fantasmic DP entered with everyone.

By the time I went in October they had a seperate enterance but it's only part of the original (FDP) one.
