We're a family of 5 (kids aged 11,8 and 2) and have the DDP. I've booked the fantasmic dining package at HBD but my 11 year old has neither the taste or the appetite for the adult meals so will I be able to pay oop for the children's fantasmic package for him. I really hate to waste 2 adult credits on getting him a hot dog!
I plan to just get him kids meals oop everywhere we eat unless obviously it's a buffet but I wasn't sure about HBD with it being a package. Got my fingers crossed though as I really want to try here!

You should be able to pay OOP for him but since it's a price fixe menu, it will be the adult rate. Once a child turns 10, you are charged adult pricing for price fixe, buffets, and AYCTE meals no matter how much or how little they eat.

The Fantasmic Dining Package is a fixed price on the menu. Your son will not get a Fantasmic voucher if you do not order the package for I'm. If your boy wants a hot dog he will get one, but you will pay the cost of the package.

What's the price? I'm trying to determine if it's a good use of our dining credits. I did the math and I THINK it will still be a good use as long as we get a fairly expensive QS and snack. Which we usually do anyways

$62.99 for adults and $21.99 for children. Personally, I would go to Mama Melrose. THis is 1 credit and is, in my opinion, a very good use of a credit. It includes an appetizer as well as a preplated dessert.

Eh...we won't thrilled with MM when we had it back in 2014. Seemed about like Olive Garden. I'm having issues with DHS day and a good use of TS that still allows us to make F!

Have you thought b
about forgetting the package and just booking a FP for Fantasmic? You are looking at one expensive hot dog.

We've done MM (good) before and H&V(awful) but really wanted to try HBD. I've rang through to Disney and asked them and they have said I could purchase the child's fantasmic package for him and pay oop. I sometimes feel you get different information off different people but they have told me that so I'm going to go on that basis and keep my fingers crossed!

Do you have plans for all of those table service meals you are saving by not using the credits. I'm sure you do but some people forget about the obvious. For us that would be a lot of meals this cover since we stay for a while.

I would saddest that you be prepared to pay the adult price because the phone CM's are notorious for giving wrong information.

To be honest we have a lot of character buffets but the rest of them we've planned. A couple where there are adult things he would eat such as pizza I'll get him the adult meal and he can share with his 2 year old sister, otherwise I'll buy him and his sister kids meals oop. Thanks for thought.

Yes they can be pretty suspect and I sometimes feel people who follow these sites are better informed but that's what I've been told so if they don't go along with that I would be a bit unhappy but would have to pay if it comes to it.

Honestly, I would be shocked if you didn't have to pay the adult price. Adult pricing for meals like this for kids 10 and over has been the one thing I have found them pretty strict about across the board. They simply do not budge for any reason. Heck, parents have reported here that they were charged at these sorts of meals when a child had a feeding tube and literally ate nothing.

So I really would look at a FP for the show and then change your ADR to a regular one so buying him a kid's meal would be a non-issue. But good luck no matter what you do!

Please know that you get better information here than you do from the CMs on the phone. Many are people who don't know anything about the parks and how they function. The fact that they told you this really doesn't mean anything.

Just go into it knowing that you are using 2 credits for him, regardless of what he eats, because it's a fixed price menu for the package. It's a similar situation as CRT or any buffet, even if the Disney "adult" barely eats.

You can pay OOP for your child, but unless you plan to lie, you will pay the adult price. Here is the thing, your child may eat like a 9 YO, but he is 10. Disney has determined that children 10 and over pay adult prices at many dining experiences, and the Fantasmic Dining package is one of those experiences. It is better that you know upfront what you are walking into rather than get socked with meals costs that you assumed were not going to be part of your bill.

I've emailed Disney the question and if they say no at least I know and if they say yes it's in writing!

I'm not worried about a hot dog, that was another poster...my baby is one so no dining plan for him.

no, they won't let you purchase a child's package for a child older than 10 based on the fact that he won't eat the adult menu.

If you're using the dining plan to pay, it's 2 credits whether he is considered an adult or a child.
