Fantasmic or Illuminations

they are both great shows but i would have to say fantasmic. it's my favorite. but, if you have time, see illuminations as well.

I would say see Fantasmic for certain!!!! I was with my son, his wife, 3 grandkids..4-8-11....the 4 yr old was never frightened at all!!!! I was NOT impressed with Illuminations at all. This was extremely boring for my entire family and we will not take the time to watch it again. This is just our opinion and I know a lot of people love Illuminations. :goodvibes

If I could only pick one, I'd do Illuminations! -- In fact, if I could pick two, I'd do Illuminations twice! :teeth:

I don't know what it is, but Fantasmic just didn't do anything for me. Not sure why, I usually love shows like that, but with Fantasmic, I could take it or leave it. I hate the long wait too for one thing, but Fantasmic just doesn't give me the same "feeling" like I get with Wishes or Illuminations.

I would definitely pick Illuminations over Fantasmic. We liked both, but Illuminations was awesome, and Fantasmic was a lot loud and a little scary for my kids (3 and 15 months old when we were there). They weren't terrified or anything, but the 3-yo spent the entire show with his face buried in my neck until the very, very end.

You have a good point. I like Fantasmic too, but there were so many parts that scared the kids, how ever, i think they would get a biger kick out of Fantasmic than Illumination, Fantasmic has all the disney charecters and everything like that in it. I would much rather see that than Illuminations.

Thank you all so much for your responses. Another question though, if we went to Fantasmic what is the seating like? Is it like bleachers where we could just sit a bit farther away? It is kind of hard to tell what he will be frightened over. The things we'd expect don't usually scare him at all but then he is frightened by some things you'd never expect. So I am just wondering if he can take it all in from a distance it may be better for him? Does anyone know? Also, if he does get scared will we be able to just get up and leave or will that be a problem? Thanks again for all your help.

The seating is bleachers in an amphitheater. You can sit further up if that would make your son feel better. And yes you can leave, a dad behind us in April did that. I would prepare him for the following:
Loud noises
Fire (the whole lake goes up in flames)
A big dragon
Gunfire in the Pocahantas sequence

It sounds dark and awful but there is a lot of sweetness in it too. Virtually every animated Disney movie is represented in there somewhere. And Mickey wins in the end! Unfortunately, there is just no way to tell until you try it. I have only noticed one time where a child had to be taken out but then I am so mesmerized by the show I don't notice too much around me. Good luck!
