We will be flying in in the morning. I figured we will check out the resort and have lunch then head over to HS for fantasmic. It starts at 6:30. Do you think it's too much on arrival day where we will be too tired? We have a 9 and 5 year old. My husband thinks we will be too tired I think we will be fine. So please end the debate.

F! will be over at 7PM.

Plenty of time to get back to the resort and get to bed early that night.

I'd go!

We did Fantasmic on arrival day our last trip and it was GREAT! We arrived early, checked in, had a late lunch/early dinner at T-Rex then went over to HS, got in a couple of rides then got in line for F! It was the perfect beginning to the trip!

If you're heading over to HS right after lunch, you will have plenty of time.

You should be be able to get the Beauty and the Beast show, Tower of Tower and Rock and Roller Coaster done that day too because they're in the same area.

You can buy some snacks/light dinner either on the street or up in Fantasmic auditorium area.

This way on the next time you go to HS, go straight to Toy Story and get a fast pass and ride it stand by.

Geez, I hate to agree with husbands. I always want to take the wife's side.

But I have to. That's a long day.

I would get to bed really early so everyone is bright eyed and bushy tailed for the first big day.

Good luck with whatever you do!

8:30PM Eastern is late?

Thanks for the advice! I think we will go for it. Hopefully get a couple of attractions in so we wont have to rush on our full HS day. And if we are too tired we can see it the next night on our HS day. Thanks :thumbsup2

Personally I would rather 'get it out of the way' on arrival day.. Just in case I was too tired on the day we visit DHS.... I love fantasmic and hate to miss it but I have missed it in the past because of exhaustion. :( Seems like I would be less tired on arrival day than any other day.. but that's just me!

Depending on how long the flight is, yes.

For us, we have to get up at 5am eastern, then we're in the air until 1pm. So, ya, fairly exhausting day :).

That said, different people handle air travel differently.

We are also planning Fantasmic! on our arrival day, although it's our honeymoon and we won't have any kids with us. I thought that it might make for an exhausting day as well, but I imagine that we will be super excited to start having fun when we arrive that we will probably forget about how tired we are. Also, with Fantasmic! ending early in the evening, it will give us plenty of time to get back to the hotel and get good sleep before our first big full day the next day.

It's a 3 hour flight. Because it is arrival day we won't be going commando so I think it will be a nice way to kick off vacation. We are a rope drop family so on our HS day we will probably be more tired after running around all day. We can see Osbourne Lights leave. And the day after our HS day we have 8am ressies at MK so we definitely don't want to be out that late. Thanks again!

Hi, I think this is a great idea. We have done F! on arrival day the last two trips. It's a great way start to the trip. Plus you don't have to worry about missing it during the rest of your stay. I highly recommend it. And no, we were not too tired. This was with a 3 hour flight. Have a great time!

Sounds like the perfect way to kick off the vacation! No matter when we arrive, I love to get a little dose of Disney on opening day if at all possible.

I guess we are just weird, but we always take the 7 am flight (so we get up at 3am). We land, ME, check in and get to a park by lunch. And then we stay till emh ends. One trip that was 3am (MK late emh closing) so we were awake for 25 hours straight! We were exhausted, but it was awesome! :thumbsup2

Go for it.

We (and by we I mean me, DH & the kids will be snoozing) are driving down :scared1: 12 hours overnight arriving around 10am, heading to DHS our first day taking a break and we will be at F! the night we arrive and DHS doesn't close till 10pm. :faint:

As my DS6 would say tell your DH to "man up and keep truckin". :goodvibes

I personally would have no problem with going. Like a previous poster mentioned, I've taken the earliest flight so that I could get in a half day at the parks and had no trouble keeping the pace up.

However, when i've done trips with my father, he usually had us just relax on arrival day because he found he needed time to unwind.

Different people have different temperaments. Would it be a possibility for you and your husband to split up and have just you go to the park with the kids while he unwinds? That way he could gather energy for the long days ahead.
