We're debating whether or not to book the fantasmic dinner package.
Does anyone know if a family member can stand in line while the kids and I are seated somewhere? My main limitation is standing and a/c-but I'm not too worried about the a/c issue in Nov.

No, if you have problems standing, the only way to avoid standing is to use an ECV or wheelchair.
I would suggest the dinner package because it will really limit your time standing. You arrive at a special entrance 30 to 45 minutes ahead of the show and walk in to your seats.

Without using the dinner package, a lot depends on how many shows per week and how many shows per night there are. If there are 2 shows, the second show is less crowded in general.
In the past, they had shows every night, and then, you could let people line up and when they open the gates an hour before shwtime, you could just join the back of the line and walk in. It was a slow moving line, but did move.

About 2 years ago, they went to only several shows per week and it was very busy, even with 2 shows. We went in October 2010 and joined the end of the line at about 50-55 minutes before show time. As we came in, they were announcing it was standing room only. The 2nd show that night was lined up all the way to the Villians shop when we came out of the show!

This summer, they added more shows per week again. So, not as crazy busy as when we went last, but still busy.

We did the Fantasmic dinner package last February with our ds11 who is autistic. We had no waiting in line at all - went to the special entrance and walked straight to our seat. While waiting, my dd10 and I decided that we wanted to get some snacks and so walked by the regular line. It was lined up out past the main entrance. So for us the dinner package was definitely the way to go. We already booked the package again for our next trip in Feb '12!

No. You have to go through the line, If it is very full the end of the line people may not get in, or may be shunted to an area in the back of the theater where standing is all that can be done.

And the person who goes ahead cannot save seats for people who are not in the theater. The CMs require that all space be filled in and will tell others in the row to move over. When I worked at Indy we were very firm about this; only if a person had already been seated and then left for the restroom would we allow a space to remain empty. (And if people complained to a manager, all that was said was "try to be a little more polite, and you now have been talked to since I promised the Guest I would talk to you".)

Ok, thanks. Well then I guess we won't be going to see Fantasmic bc the dinner packages are sold out for the days we're there.
I've already gone in a chair before-but this time I have my twin double stroller plus my crazy 4 yr running around who I can barely keep up with while walking.

Even though I use an ECV, We usually do the dinner package. We get there early and enjoy everyone doing the wave. Last time we weren't able to book a package so we went in on the wheel chair entrance. We were on the back row on the left side. Then they started to load the rest of the guests. For some reason, it felt like everyone who went behind me had either bump into my chair or put the hand on my chair. It was very uncomfortable. When we did the package we were all the way to the right and did not have this situation. I will be sure we have the package next time we go to Fantasmic.
