Fantasmic--Like it or not?

Love it, see it at least once every trip to WDW.
Next trip I have it scheduled in twice.
Only thing I do not like is the long walk to and from the amphitheatre.

We love Fantasmic. We have never done the dinner package, just got there early but not hours by any means and grab some hot dogs and drinks and wait for the show. We've always gotten great seats. Since we have seen it so many times I asked my family if we should skip it this next trip and my 14 yr. old dd said "absolutely not." Everyone's tastes are different though.

Still haven't seen it, though not for a lack of trying-- we've been rained out three times in two years.

Our next attempts are coming up in June00 wish us luck :)

We saw it a few years ago (2001), but did not see it our 2 trips since. We have had to limit or night activities, due to kids ages. This year the kids are older and can handle the late nights better. NO more in bed by 9 pm.

I was amazed when planning this years trip, that my 6 Y.O. princess: , asked if we were going to see the show, "where Mickey stands on the mountain at the end. You know the one with the fire, and the boat with the disney people on it" It took me a minute to figure out what the heck she was talking about. She was 2 when we saw it last, and don't have any pictures of it. I can't believe she remembers it.

Our Fantasmic package is scheduled our first day at the parks (2 weeks from today in fact   ) She also got to pick the restaurant (bscetti, at Mama Melrose)

It's just OK. In my book, it just doesn't compare to the other nighttime shows at WDW.

Wow that's pretty cool that she remembered it :wizard:

I can't give my opinion yet as we won't see it for a few more months :flower:

Guess we're reading the same book, because I didn't think it was all that great either. We did have high expectations after reading that it "was worth the price of admission to MGM" and "one of the best things at WDW". We (DD7, DS7, DH and I) all agreed that it was just O.K.

We had no idea to what to expect from Wishes (viewing from Main Street) or PhilharMagic and hands down thought they were MARVELOUS!!!

We Went back in Aug. 2003 and we LOVED it!. My husband who doesn't get excited over much could not stop talking about it. Still to this day if any one new comes over he take out the DVD he made of it and show all who will sit. ::MinnieMo

Count me in with the people who are not fans of this show. I hadn't ever seen it until March, and perhaps I'd read how so many people like it that my expectations were too high, but I have never been more disappointed in a Disney show. I thought it dragged, and frankly, I was bored of it all half way through. I agree with this from leighe:

It is terribly disjointed. And the Pocohantas thing must have been 5 minutes. Why on earth would they devote that kind of time to a second-tier movie? I think the idea is good, but cut down the length and tighten it up. Do we really need that many movie clips? The water screen loses its novelty after a couple minutes, but still it drags on...

I'm sure they won't change it, as it seems to be very popular. All the better to hit the rest of the park, I guess, while the masses are lining up for this.

By the way, I took the advice on this board and went on a day with 2 shows and then went to the second show, and that I think was a good move. The amphitheatre wasn't even completely full, there was a complete section on either side that was open.

THANK YOU! Finally someone else who understands my annoyance with the Pocohantas segment! I think Fantasmic is okay overall, but it seems like the Pocohantas parts just drags on forever - and it wasn't THAT GREAT of a movie!!!! My husband thought I was nuts when I was griping about this, so I'm glad to see someone else agrees!

Don't love it. We will be skipping it our on trip next week!!! Wishes & Spectro were FAR superior.

Saw it once at WDW, won't bother again. Well, maybe if we have children and it's still there, or take someone new, but not just for us.

The DL show blows the WDW version away, and we saw that one first so we were sorely disappointed in the WDW one when we saw that one finally.

Oh, yes, Spectro!! In my earlier post, wrote that we liked Wishes and PhilharMagic more. Add Spectro to that list -- Had no expectations and really liked it!

On my list of must see attractions at WDW, it is number 1. I will definitely not miss Fantasmic while on vacation. :earsboy:

Don't miss it- IMHO it is AWESOME! However our family that lives in Las Vegas says that it's just ok because they see stuff like that "every week." So I guess it just depends on what frame of mind you are in. I myself think that it's really unique! :wizard:

I love it - but think it totally depends on where you sit, whenever we've been near the front it takes on a whole new aspect and you don't miss any of the detail
