I've read posts about watching Fantasmic from the Pier on Tom Sawyer's Island. Is this still possible? Can anyone give me some information on how to get there, when to arrive, where to stand, etc?

Thanks so much!

I think you may be confused. The stage that F! takes place on is more of less the pier on Tom's Island. You view from the outer banks across the Rivers of America.

I'm definitely confused! This is written in my notes, but I can't find the post where it was referenced.

What I'm really looking for is a way to get an acceptable view of the show (for a group of adults with no children) without having to camp out. I thought I read about such a spot.

Any help is much appreciated.

^ What skiingfast said.

I've never heard of any non-CM being able to get onto Tom Sawyer Island whilst Fantasmic is going on.

However, before I quit smoking, I used to stand in the "smokers' corral" right next to ROA & right across from Tom Sawyer Island to watch Fantasmic. Since that area looks a bit like the dock, maybe someone else who had the same idea posted about it here? I know I certainly wasn't alone in watching the show from there; the place was like a smoky can of sardines during Fantasmic. :rotfl:

Thanks so much. I did read that the Island was closed at dusk, and wondered how it would be possible to get over there to view the show!

Spacermaid - I appreciate the tip on the Smoker's Corral. Perhaps we'll brave it for a peek at the show!

Thanks - not everyone wants to do the dessert boxes, so we're trying to find a way to see it together with as little hassle as possible.

I'll check to see if there's a second show.

Thanks so much!

If it's in your notes, I am guessing it was mention about the spot to the far left as you look at the island. It has a little sign that says "Tom Sawyer's Island."

This area fills up late so you can sometimes snag a spot down there. However, the reason for this is it is a partially blocked view. I don't like watching from there, but it is an option. It is standing room. It is to the far left of the seating area.

HTH,
Dreams

We aren't getting the dessert boxes either. We're just planning on going over when the first show is ending and grabbing a seat for the second show. :thumbsup2

This works well especially if you are already on the Haunted Mansion side of the NOS area. Kinda of a show spoiler, but You could always grab a snack over at critter county or Hungry Bear while you wait and be shielded from the show.

Thanks so much, everybody! I think we've got some good options for seeing the show! There is a second show on the night in question, so that will probably be the easiest way to go about it.

Thanks again!

What exactly is in the desert box? Does anyone know? My friends and I in November are hoping to look more into this.

Ok, you get two chocolate truffles, cheese an crackers (I think 5 different types of cheese, and two packages of crackers), grapes, cheesecake, chocolate lava cake type thing that's really good, lemon tart, coconut macaroon, and big cookie thing full of jam. You also get all you want soda, water, coffee, and cocoa.

When we did the dessert, we did it for the first show. Dh lined up an hour before hand to get our assignment. Then we came and sat down a bit before the show. Our server brought us our box and drinks (he even brought cold water to cool the kid's cocoa). Then after the show, he brought us more drinks while we waited for the fireworks. We watched the fireworks from our seats, and afterwards our server came by and asked if we wanted any drinks for the road. (He was really awesome).

So yes, it's really expensive desserts, but it's also a really great show for F! and you don't have to sit on the ground or spend hours getting a good spot. And the desserts are really good!

I have said that I watch Fantasmic around there so maybe it was my post that was confusing.. Just to be clear..you watch from the loading area to go TO Tom Sawyers island..no way could you actually be ON Tom Sawyer's island :)

During our last trip we were on Tom Sawyer island when they were closing it down to prepare for Fantasmic. They had shut down most of the island already and had cast members stationed at every pathway/cave exit/etc telling people they couldn't go any farther for the last 15-20 minutes before they finally started telling people they were closing down (officially we got over there with half an hour before the island shut down). It was actually really interesting because we were letting the kids climb through the caves and just watching the island as more and more cast members seemed to pop up out of nowhere.

The crew in black shirts were already setting Fantasmic stuff up while we took the last ferry ride off the island. Normal cast members were doing a full island sweep side by side (like forensic crews do looking for evidence ) making sure no one was left.

There is *no* way to see Fantasmic from Tom Sawyer Island. Considering that's where a lot of the pyrotechnics are being launched *from*, I don't know why you would want to anyway. Besides, Murphy would run you over. :goodvibes
