Fantasmic! & FP+ What's the deal?

of the sometimes seen mirage of a FP+ reserved section?

The myth was that there is no reserved section for FP+ holders, but I was there last week & attended Fantasmic.
The old entrance for standby is now used for FP+ & the old entrance for dining pkg is now used for standby. So after walking through the huge queue I saw several magic band readers lined up & you enter at the top by the bathrooms where it is roped off almost identically to where the dining pkg used to be.

So they were seating FP+ holders dead center in the stadium. If that's your thing I think it'd be worth it.

HOWEVER about 30 minutes to show time or so they started filling in all the seats around dead center (so anyone entering could sit right next to you w/no FP+).

It did not seem to guarantee you a seat, but rather the center of the stadium.

All I know is we got there an hr early, had NP getting a great seat I'm standby & loved the show!!! (Hadn't seen it in over 2yrs)

That's interesting. Maybe they are worried people were going to find out it didn't really get them anything and not pick it. Good to hear if true!

We chose FP+ for Fantasmic last night (because we came to the park later in the dat (around 3pm) simply to view the show so didn't mind using it as our tier one choice--we also have a 2 year old and can't do the coasters.) We had no problem getting a FP+ for Fantasmic (and actually could've gotten a TSMM FWIW.)

Anyways, I've never done Fantasmic before so I can't speak about how it usually is, but I can share my experience. Last night there was only one showing for Fantasmic at 7:00. FP+ gave us a return time of 6:25-6:45. We arrived about 6:30 or so and had to go through the FP+ entrance. When we got to the bleachers, the Dining Reservation viewers were all seated in the Center section. Cast members were telling us FP+ to keep moving to the extreme left (If you are in the stands looking at the water.) We ended up sitting in the Malificient section (not the extreme left, but close to it.) There was quite a crowd of people using the FP+ and sitting in that area. From the best I could tell, the extreme Right side was for Standby, and again the center being for the Dining Package viewers. But the people who arrived about 5 minutes before the show began (who had FP+ did seem to still be filing in and had some seating available, though the stadium did seem to meet capacity by 7pm.)
