Ok, I have ANOTHER Fantasmic question. We will be arriving on a Sunday, so we only have one shot at seeing fantasmic, which we've never seen. We have 2 children, ages 4 and 6. Is it worth it to sit for 2-3 hours securing a seat to see this show with children this age? Do the kids usually like the show or not?? I've also read that if we don't secure a good spot that a lot of times the kids can't even see the show. Is this true?

It is worth 2-3 hours to see fantasmic! from the ground sitting area right next to the roa walkway, especially with all the new upgrades to the show. (flotsam & jetsam floats and murphy the dragon that just appeared)

The show can be very scary for kids during the villians scene. When I took my 7 year old cousin to see fantasmic!, he liked the show so much we did that everytime we go to disneyland. It is up and down for little kids that like it or are scared of it.

For little kids, it is good to secure a good spot by the railings of the roa, so no one will be in front of you during the show. You can still get a good spot
if you don't get the railings.

I'm taking a 3 1/2 and 5 year old and hope they love it. The 3 1/2 year old LOVES watching it on you tube but the real thing is soooooooooooooo different. I hope she's not scared.

We did it with a 2 and 6 yo and yes it was worth it. Actually we were ready to sit and take a break by then, so we camped out in our prime location right by the railings and ate some chowder in a bread bowl and generally relaxed.

What else do you do to get your kids to wait patiently for that amount of time? That is my big concern is having meltdowns during the waiting process:)

Bring a small blanket or a beach towel to sit on, that way you have a small area "reserved" and only one of you has to stay put. The other is free to take the kids off to a ride, restroom, etc. Aside from eating popcorn::, other ideas are a small new toy, sticker books, crayons, portable dvd player, ds, etc.

My son would have HATED it. The whole thing is villians! The only part he would have enjoyed is the swordfight but that's at the end with all those scary things happening. He's also very sensitive to how music is used, he can tell when a scary scene is coming up b/c of music changing (perhaps he will be a composer!), and just the music alone would have terrified him.

Thankfully we had been horribly forgetful parents and hadn't eaten until almost 9, and when we finally got some food into him (after a Tomorrowland tantrum) he passed out cold in the stroller, and hubby and I were able to watch it. And...that's the last time as far as I'm concerned. Even I was scared!

And to wait that long for something that would have been so scary, oh man, he might not want to even go into NOS the rest of the trip!

But all kids are different. We had NO plans to see F to begin with, because we figured it would be scary and he wouldn't like it...we only saw it b/c he fell asleep, and we were right, we believe. If your kid isn't like that, go for it.

Play games! We like to play 'Guess the disney character/ride/etc I'm thinking of' - get to ask 1 yes/no question and then guess. Goes around until someone comes up with it.

Also for the first hour or so you can have 1 family member hold the spot and go elsewhere with the kids - I think most folks would understand. But watch as it gets more crowded and return or it will be hard to get back together.

Kids love the Pirate Ship and all the characters on the Mark Twain at the end. The girls love the princess floats. the Villians are a bit scary, but just like the movies! I'm going tonight to see if the dragon is too scary for my granddaughter.

Fantasmic is great. My 7 year son enjoyed it a lot last year at WDW, however we have not been to DLR since he was about 3 so I can not comment on DLR's Fantasmic show.

I can't believe the difference in how people camp out at DLR for hours to see Fantasmic, at WDW there is quite a line into the Fantasmic stadium but I don't think I have ever heard of anyone waiting 2 to 3 hours to see it at WDW.
