Was anyone there for the Fantasmic fire earlier this week? I just did a little piece on it but could only find two references: http://bit.ly/saDMm

Pretty scary, even though it looks like it was minor. My husband loves the Fantasmic here in FL, but if I were Mickey I sure as heck wouldn't want to be by all that pyro. We've only seen it once at Disneyland so I don't remember if you have more or less fire than we do.

I hadn't heard that! WDW's version isn't on the Rivers of America so no room for a ship the size of the Mark Twain. I suppose it could happen to the smaller floats though and that would be far worse! Sounds like a computer screw up that allowed the Mark Twain to be further around the river when the fire went up.

Sounds like no damage done but anyone there now that can tell us if the Mark Twain is running during the day as well as for Fantasmic?

On Sunday, I walked past the 10:30 show and I THOUGHT that the sparklers on the Mark Twain were not going at all--but since that didn't seem right, I thought I was just seeing things. My blurry photo looks like there was some pyro there, though, so I don't know. They might have just gone out quicker than I remembered. Or maybe this is a photo of something else!

The Mark Twain WAS running on Monday morning/afternoon, as we had to wait for it to leave so we could ride the Columbia.

Everything seemed fine at the 10:30 show on Monday (with the probable exception of Mickey not showing up at the very, very end of the show, and of course no dragon).

I can't speak for anything on Tuesday, but "earlier this week" does sound like it would have happened Sunday or Monday.

Supposedly it was the first showing on Monday night.

I saw the boat go by during the 9:00 show (waiting to stake out spots for the 10:30 show) and no one looked panicked or anything. Of course, we could only see the top 2 levels, so anyone close to the fire could have been freaking out. ;)

From the photo linked in the article, it doesn't really look like a big deal to me. It definitely didn't keep the boat from going during the 10:30 show, and I know the Rivers were set on fire because I remember how nice and warm it felt! :)

I wonder what other potentially dangerous incidents have occurred during Fantasmic.

We were there during the 9:00 PM show and did not notice anything was wrong. This could be because we have never seen the show, we usually only see the fireworks. We decided to mix it up and see Fantasmic! We loved it but did not notice any accident.
