Okay, so planning the HS FP+ and was wondering if getting one for Fantasmic! was worth it? Can anyone give their thoughts or opinions on it? Thanks.

Yes.
What a FP+ for F! offers is more CHOICE in seating.

If you DO get a F! FP+, you can choose to sit in either the FP section (virtually the entire left half of the theater) or the Standby section (virtually the entire right half of the theater.)
So, whatever section has the better seating at the time you arrive, you can go there.
Without a FP, you can only choose a seat in the Standby section.

There is a very good chance that you can get a FP+ for F! as a 4th or 5th FP of the day because they issue SO MANY of them (enough to cover nearly the entire left half of the seating.) On many nights, it is possible that you can gat a FP+ for F! as you are walking to the theater.

As to when to arrive at the theater, I'd get to there 45-60 minutes before the show-time.
Even with a FP or Dining Pkg. reservation, don't wait too late.

On busy nights, the CMs can stop holding the reserved sections within 20-30 minutes before show-time, and turn over any available seats to waiting walk-in guests.

There is sometimes a "pre-show" (such as it is) that can help pass the last 30 minutes before show time.

Arrows indicate the center of the seating.

Shaded areas:

(First or Only F! performance of the evening)
Cyan= Standby (walk-in) seating
Red= Dining Package Reserved
Blue= FP+ Reserved
Purple= Can be either FP+ or Dining Plan Reserved, depending on needs.

(Second or Third F! performance of the evening)
Cyan= Standby (walk-in) seating
Red, Purple, Blue= FP+ Reserved
(Although much of the outer Blue will likely be used for Standby.)

Thanks! I was wondering how it would work, cause our current plan is to spend time seeing the Osborne Lights before heading over for F! Going on 12/7

You can also, nearly always, head to the Osborne Lights following a F! performance.
They keep the O-Lights on for about an hour after the rest of DHS is closed.
But, on 12/7, F! starts a half-hour after DHS "closes," so I'm not sure if they would
still send the exiting F! crowd to the O-Lights.

Well, I had thought of that, but wanted to see them before, in case my parents didn't feel like going back after. My dad had knee replacement surgery last year, but this will be our...fourth straight day in the parks (short condensed trip) so I don't want him to over-do it. We are trying to be smart about things, but still I know there is a LOT of walking involved still.

Have a great trip!

We have a FP for the only show on Thanksgiving at the moment. Where would you advise the best section to sit is?

Closer to the center (left-right) is preferred.
We like to sit closer to the water
(where you might get water-sprayed, if the wind is blowing "in."
We take our ponchos, just in case.)
Others prefer to sit higher up.
Choose your favorite.

Of course after I wrote that I found out we are now the second show. Thanks for the seating info!

Did this FP just start? In 2012 we sat in the Mickey section maybe the 4th of 5th row. No one said it was reserved or made us leave. We got there about 45 minutes before the show started. We are going in 11 days and I just want to make sure we don't sit here if we aren't suppose to.

It has been an option since FP+ was introduced early last year. You may find the green link in my signature helpful.

I hate that it is a tier 1. We are going to DHS on Dec 10. Park closes at 8, fantasmic is at 8:30. I am figuring we will have to see the Osborne lights before going to F!, but I am torn between giving up my TSMM FP for a F! one or just hoping to get it as a 4th FP. We missed F! last trip cause it filled up so fast so my DH wants me to FP this time. Decisions decisions.

So if we are going to use a FP on a single show night, when do we find out whether the purple section is Dining Plan or Fp? When we arrive?

Thanks.

Yup.
CMs will direct guests to the Dining Package section(s.)

Getting a FP will not guarantee you getting into the show if it fills early and you arrive too late.
So, with or without a FP, arrive by 45 min. (or more) before show-time.
