I just got off the phone with Disney Dining from buying the Fantasmic Dinner Package.
We're going on Friday, November 1st to the Hollywood & Vine buffet at 4:50 pm. That's the latest time they're giving for dinner as Fantasmic is at 6:30 that night. They start serving the dinner at 3:15 pm.
We chose H&V as being a buffet, it would have the largest choice of food. Also, it was the cheapest by far. It's $22.99/person and the total for the two of us was $48.74 which includes tax and tip. It doesn't include beverages, so we'll have to pay for those that night. Mama Melrose is $32.99 and Brown Derby is $39.99. You do have to pay immediately when you make the reservation and there's a 48 hour cancellation period.
I did confirm the prices of each restaurant. MM includes a flat bread pizza to share, family-style bowl of salad, choice of entree and the tiramusu dessert. BD has soup or salad, choice of entree and dessert.

You may want to call and reconfirm what you're getting. Disney buffets generally come with a non-alcoholic beverage included in the price (see Deb's page for menu info http://wdwig.com/menu/menu_hvd.htm) and it would seem odd if the package didn't include one. Also, many people in the Theme Park and Attractions board have been reporting that they are making reservations for MM for the $22.99 price. Since this is so new, it sounds like all the CM's are not up to speed on all the info.

I did ask twice when I was on the phone with the CM and I just called back to reconfim the beverages and the prices for the other restaurants. This CM confirmed all my information. Which is not to say I would refuse the drink if it is included when we get there. ;)

You may want to post your info on the other board then! I'm sure it might come as a surprise to some people because the beverage inclusion is being reported on many other websites and I'd hate for someone to show up disappointed!

Yes I did read that there was a dink there as well. What about the popcorn or soad for the show that I have seen posted. Is that the case?

How far out can you book this dinner package. I was told my CM that you can only book 7 days in advance.

I myself have not tried calling but it seems like everyone is getting a different stoy depending on who they talk to. It seems lke many people have been able to reserve more than 7 days in advance (check the trip planning board) so I would call back again. Also be sure you get info on your package deal. Some people are saying a beverage with HV, others not. Different prices are also being quoted for MM. I've also seen that posts warning about the proposed tax change that might affect any total price they quote you.

At first I was all for this, but given the confusion over the program I'm thinking I will wait until my vacation gets closer to make any definite decisions. It seems like many people have had luck with just walking into the show during value season.

Depending on when you are going-- I would be VERY surprised that FDP is needed. We go in January, and the first time I used the FDP. It didn't make a difference at all.
The next January I didn't bother with it.
Both times seats weren't completely filled until the show was actually starting and lights were going down. Could have been luck of the draw for some guests. But I don't think so.
And really in May, it wasn't that big of a deal either. I at least knew we had seats. But I can't say it made a huge difference to have the FDP anyway.

My husband called this morning for the FDP at H&V. He was told the drinks were NOT included for the adult buffet, but ARE included in the child buffet. Weird.

They also told him that free drinks and popcorn would not be served at the show as part of the package.

My only comment is about the time Fantasmic starts then...

The Disney website says it starts at 7:00 the end of October and beginning of November but the CM's on the phone regarding Fantasmic state it's starting at 6:30??????

I wonder which is right?

The FDP can be booked for any date in the test period which runs from 9/16 to 12/16/02. Have fun!

beattyfamily
I bet the 6:30 time is the time you must be there by to get your seats(30 minutes early) and the show starts at 7pm.

Maybe you are right, Julfre, but I've heard it mentioned more than once in the last couple of days so I was starting to wonder if they are changing the time for that week???

They used to say you had to arrive 30 minutes beforehand but with this new package, I thought they were now saying you 'had' to get there 45 minutes beforehand??

I'm still so confused, even though I've decided not to do this package!

We're going the end of October and will try it on our own this time but I thought it started at 7:00p that week but have been hearing 6:30p...no big deal I was just wondering....
