Fantasmic Dinner Package...

So I booked the package and I wanted Mama Melrose's for dinner since we are already doing the H&V Dine 'n Play for breakfast that day...but Mama Melroses' only had a 3pm, so I took a 5pm H&V...should I keep calling and see if I can change it? How's H&V for dinner? We ate lunch there last year and it was pretty good.

What would you do?

I would keep trying for Mama Melrose. Someone will cancel!

We did the fantasmic package at Mama Melrose at 3:30. We didn't eat lunch, ate a nice big dinner early, then used our counter serivce around 9. It was EMH for MGM that day!

That's pretty early for dinner! That time of year you do not need the package. You could enter between 1 hour or 45 minutes and get a better seat than with the package.

I would cancel and eat where and when I want to which would probably be 50's Prime Time. YUM!

If you really want to do the package then I'd keep calling right up until my trip hoping for a later time.

I would re-consider your plan for two large meals in the same day. When we have a large buffet breakfast, no one in our group is really hungry for another large meal that day. They especially wouldn't be hungry for one as early as 3:00.

I thought about not doing the dinner package, but DS is 3, and I do not think standing in line for over an hour to see Fantasmic is a good idea. I may keep trying for Mama Melrose's and if I can't get it cancel the package and not see Fantasmic....except that I understand it is an awesome show! Ahh...what to do?!?!?!

Ok but I have never seen a line at that time of year. They open up the stadium at probably 1 1/2 to 2 hours before the show so your waiting will be in your seat.

I entered the stadium at 45 minutes before the show (without the package) in Sept and had the best seats; middle about half way back. The stadium wasn't even half way full.

When I did the package during the same time of year, I also had to enter at 45 minutes before (that is what the waitress suggested since it's still first come, first served and they open up the package seating at 30 minutes before the show to regular guests, if it's really crowded) and I was to the far right with the package and yet there were still great seats in the center still open. The package was not necessary.

IMHO, having done the package many times (Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec) and having done it without the package (Aug, Sept and Oct), the package isn't necessary off season, in the slower months. There was NEVER a line. There is never more than an hour wait off season to get great seats. More like 45 minutes and you'll have better seats than the package folks.

The only time they'll be a line is if you go in July or during other peak season times. Those people are lining up really early to try and get the best seats when the stadium opens up at about 2 hours before.

Thanks! That is great news. I think that I will cancel my package and chance it. I luckily had originally made a PTC reservation that I haven't cancelled yet and so we will keep that and head to the show right after dinner.

You are very welcome. Remember, if you've never seen the show before, don't sit up front! You might get wet. The wind sometimes blows the water at you!
