Can you do the Fantasmic dinner package on the Dining Plan?
Can you do the Candlelight Processional dinner package on the Dining Plan?
Are they both one table service credit? Thanks alot!

Yes, yes and almost.

On the FDP- Mama Melrose & Hollywood & Vine are both counted as 1 TS credit, while Hollywood Brown Derby counts as 2. Just an FYI, if going to the Brown Derby, it is a far better deal to pay for the $37/ adult Fantasmic package out of pocket rather than waste an extra days' worth of credits... just my opinion.

CP- is also on the DDP and I believe they're all 1 TS credit. Someone will correct that if I'm wrong.

Is it possible to pay oop for two of the fantasmic dinners (we have resv. at H+V) and use TS credits for the other two? I wasn't sure if a Fantasmic package would have different rules. Also, when everyone refers to oop, does that mean you literally need to bring cash with you or can you still charge it to your room even if you have the DDP on your room key? Thanks for any help

I'm sure you can pay for 2 and do two on TS credits (pay for the two cheapest :rotfl2: ) OOP refers to having to pay for but not nec. with cash. Yes you can charge it using your room card.

Thank you for your answer, but I'm afraid I don't get your joke at all. (ok, I am blonde, but I don't think that has anything to do with it :) ). At best we will have 2 table service credits left since we are doing some meals that take 2 credits. We are all listed as adults. Is your joke just the obvious that all the meals are the same price or am I missing something? Anyway, I'm glad we won't have to carry cash around with us!

Yes DDP TS credits can be used for the Fantasmic Dinner Package. I agree that if you were going to dine at the Brown Derby it would make sense to pay OOP and save your TS credits for elsewhere.

Here's my big nugget of advice on this issue: If you plan to do the Fantasmic Dinner Package make sure you reserve it way ahead of time. I tried reserving it a week ahead of time and the packages were all gone for all three restaurants. There were still ADR's available for these places, but the dinner packages were all spoken for. We got blocked out of the dinner packages but we ended up with better seats than the package people anyway. Our group is small and we found seats on row E right in the middle about a half hour before the show. The dinner package people sit all the way to one side.

And with the Package you may wind up having to eat "dinner" at 3:30 or so. That was the ONLY time the package was available at Brown Derby when I made an inquiry for our September trip--

I'm a little confused. Why is it better to pay for Brown Derby OOP? It's my understanding that if you're on the dining plan, you're NOT limited to the usual Fantasmic menu, rather, you can order anything off the menu.

Maybe I'm missing something? :confused3

You are better off not using TS credits at the Brown Derby just because it will cost you two TS credits per person dining there. You come out better in terms of value and maximizing what you get for your dollar by using those TS credits seperately at two different restuarants elsewhere.

I've never eaten at the Brown Derby, it may be worth two TS credits, but I just don't know. I'm coming from the getting the most for your money perspective.

Thanks for the clarification. :) So, are you basically saying that you should pay for all 2 TS restaurants OOP? We're going to two, 2 TS restaurants this trip (Artist Point and Brown Derby) because of the dining plan. We're looking forward to trying all the different appetizers/desserts that we'd likely not order if we paid OOP. I guess each person needs to figure out for themselves which way works better for them. Thanks for the info!

The "joke" is that you didn't state you were all adults initially and she was insinuating that the best way to save money is to pay OOP for only the children. It's a hot button issue on here, hence why the laughing guy. It's good advice nonetheless if traveling with children and wanting to pay OOP for only part of your party to always pay cash for the kids' meals.

Thanks 3princesses4us for clearing that up. Actually, I'm guessing that my dd13 will not be eating a full meal at all of the restaurants but sharing parts of ours at some of the restaurants as she is a very picky eater and I don't think much will appeal to her. I'm sure she would much prefer a kid's meal if she was young enough. The H+V buffet is the cheapest of our TS choices and that's why I figured that it would be the best option for paying for some of our meals. If DD doesn't end up ordering a meal somewhere, or if someone else in our party is just wants to skip a meal, we will have leftover credits, otherwise, we'll just pay for all four meals at H+V.

I wouldn't say you should always pay out of pocket for the Signature Dining Experiences (2 TS Credits) you just have to calculate what works best for you. I used the menus posted on allearsnet.com http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm to see what the best deal would be.

Sometimes you come out better saving your TS credits at two different places. That is the case with the Brown Derby since it seems to be one of the least expensive places that require using two credits. BD entree prices are pretty much in line with some of the other TS restuarants that only require one credit.

Again I should stress that I'm only talking about getting the most for your money dollar wise. If some of the signature dining experiances are your must-do's or favorites, then it is worth it to dine there even if you could get more expensive meals for the same price elsewhere. It's cool that you have a choice though :)
