Please help us! We are a party of 13 and think that the Fantasmic dinner package would work out well so we don't have to wait hours for Fantasmic. What is the best restaurant to eat at? We only want to use ONE dinner for the dining plan so Brown Derby is out. Which would you recommend? Also, how does it work with FAntasmic? What time should we schedule dinner for?

Wow big group.....If they have seating for that many and because of the large group...I suggest Hollywood and Vine. Its a buffet and pretty good for most. I am sure that there is something there for everyone...kids, older people and young .
Have fun

When you call to schedule, ask what times are available. As I recall, there is a limited time period.

I would go with whatever they have available. Let them know if you are flexible and can be seated in different tables. Fantasmic packages are popular and October-November ADR window opened up in May, so there may not be a lot of choices left.

We are going in December...our ressies open up tomorrow :)

If you are planning for your Oct-Nov trip, I would call and see if you can get ANYTHING for Fantasmic at this point. People are already booking for December and finding little availability. Due to the popularity of these packages due to the limited showings of Fantasmic, they book up almost immediately.

Edit: Oops you posted RIGHT before I did. Still gonna keep this info up though in case other readers need it!

I do not think that you can use dining credits for the fantastic package. It will have to be an out of pocket dinner. I have not actually done this package, so please verify with more reliable sources.

I did the Fantasmic dinner package in May at Mama Melrose, and we used our dining plan credits to pay for it. (1 credit per person)
They do fill up quickly though, as the other posters mentioned!
The reservations are also quite early, I can't remember what I was told, but I do know my ressie was at 3:35, much earlier than I normally like to eat.
Mama Melrose was good, I have no complaints about our food that day, or the service.

Incorrect. You can use 1 TS for Mama Melrose or H&V or 2 for Brown Derby.

Then you'll be fine! For some reason your ticker was showing end of Oct/beginning of Nov. Either that or I had a little too much soymilk this morning. :lmao:

Not too much soymilk, yoiu were correct. We were going to go then but changed our plans and then I forgot to change my ticker! Thanks!!!! So which one would you recommend -- H&V or Mama Melrose?

Wow, that is awesome! I figured that it was not included in the dining plan. It is great for planning on the next big trip with family. Thanks for correcting my info in a nice way....

I have never been to H&V, but honestly it is one of the few places that gets consistently terrible reviews. I would book Mama Melrose. We have been there several times and it has been very good. :) Good luck with your ADR's tomorrow. :goodvibes

I just called for the vacation i just booked for august and they're completely sold out the week that i'm there!!! call now!!!

We are going in December as well and the only thing I could get was a 1:30 reservation for MM. They've recently opened up lunch packages.

Good Luck!

If you end up going with Hollywood and Vine don't be to worried. I was terrified because of the reviews I read but it was the only ressie I could get so I was stuck with it. Geuss what it wasen't as bad as we feared. It wasen't the best place we ate by any means and the selection was smaller than some of the buffets but nothing was horrible, we all got full and there were a few things that were really quite good. I would like to try the other places but if I needed a ressie and H and V was all that was available I would eat there again with no qualms.

I've eaten at H&V about 4 times.... once with the F! dining package... I was FINE with it... as PP noted.... it has a great selection, is the cheapest of the dining packages... has a GREAT "Make your own sundae" option...

The other (last) TIme was at HBD...and I was not so excited about that... Just expected more... the food was bland... I may try one more time... if only to try the Imagineer dining...

Have a magical visit !!!

Mary
