Fantasmic Dinner Package... which one??

I want to do the dinner package on our trip and was wondering about Hollywood & Vine vs. Brown Derby. Last year we went to Mama Melrose, and loved it, but we're trying not to repeat any restaurants... Any suggestions on which is better?? Also, we're going in December and I've hear Fantasmic runs around 6:30? If so what time do I have to book the package for?

Fantasmic is at 6:30pm when we go and our package dinner time is 3:45pm at Mama Melrose. It was the only time available. I just took it b/c I don't want to wait in that line. We have not eaten at any of the restaurants at HS, so I can't help you with choices.

I did the dinner package in 2006, and we chose Hollywood & Vine. I think it's kind of hit or miss, my ex didn't care for it, but I thought it was delicious.

You have to eat at the set times they have the pkg available.

BD is 2TS credits if you are on the Dining Plan. H&V is just 1 TS credit. Mama Melrose is the other Fanatasmic DP and is also 1TS credit. At MM you are able to get a appetizer if you are doing the Fantasmic DP.

I have a 4:35pm at MM, when Fantasmic is showing at 7:30pm. I believe that is the latest seating for my date as I was one of the first people to book it.

We are going to book for the Hollywood and Vine. Never done this one though but heard good reviews.

I would to try and book this in December as well...but when will we know what nights F! is running in Dec..
I was hoping for either Thurs. 10th or Fri. 11th. Does it usually run Friday and not Thursday or is it just a random schedule unknown until the park hours are posted.

NO...it has to be dinner...the earliest time for Fantasmic is 4pm.

Fantasmic Dinner packages are generally booked between 2:30-5:00 p.m. The latest bookings depend on what time Fantasmic is shown. They generally time the dinner packages so that you will be done at least 90 minutes before the show. So if Fantasmic is at 6:30, they will want you done in the restaurants by 5 or 5:30. (You have to show up at Fantasmic theater 45-60 minutes before the show to claim your seats.)

I tried to book my Fantasmic package this week (on my 90th day), and I have to say it was really hard to get. I had to call in to reserve it (no online ressies). So, you have to wait until 7am to call in. It took me 45 minutes on hold to be told that they were already completely booked in all 3 restaurants for the day I wanted. (nov 25th). So I called every morning for 3 days until one opened up. I wanted Mama Melrose, but ended up with Hollywood and Vine. At that point I was willing to take anything they had. So if your date is unavailable, don't give up--maybe something will become available.

We got Brown Derby on Nov 30th for this trip. We wanted Mama melrose, but no luck. Last year we did Hollywood and Vine and really didn't care for it. It was like eating at Morrisons. Not something I would care to try again. I tried for Mama Melrose for that trip too, and called back dozens of times but never got it. Brown Derby was the only thing we could get for our day, and I alost didn't take it b/c it was a 2TS. I am glad i did as we are now really excited about it after looking at the menu. We are just going to pay OOP for it and use the 2TS elsewhere.

Yah, I'm a little worried about h&v. I've read good and bad reviews. This fantasmic restaurant is the only problem I had with all my ADRs for our whole trip, so I think I'm just gonna go with the flow. Maybe it is meant to be??? Haha. I think my over-planning is getting the best of me. Or, I could call WDWDINE every morning until we go in order to get Mama Melrose. Humm, I'm not sure. I think Amanda is tired of talking to me. (it's funny how I got the same lady two days in a row)-- She didn't seem too happy to hear from me again either. Maybe I'll see what she's up to tomorrow...

So, if I booked the fantasmic dinner package and they gave me the time of 3:45pm then I am eating off the dinner menu, correct? On our night fantasmic is at 6:30pm. Does this seem right?

Sounds right to me.

You have to be finished your meal at a min of 1 hr before Fantasmic is scheduled to start. You should have more than the 1hr. They suggest you arrive at the entrance a min of one hour before.
