Fantasmic dinner package question

We are going to MGM on Tuesday Dec 6, do you think we need to do dinner package to be able to see Fantasmic? This is the first time we are going in December so I am not sure how crowded it is. I would really like to not do a package but also don't think 3 kids (9, 8, and 5) will stand in line for hours waiting to get in. Any experience???

I can't speak for december but we just went last week and didn't do the dining pkg. It all depends if you want to wait for 1.5 hrs or 1/2 hr as you must get there 30 mins prior, even with the FDP. I was glad that we didn't do the dining pkg as we found it to not be a problem to wait...especially because the summer rain can force a cancellation many times.
