We just returned from WDW. When we made our fantasmic ressies we were told that they were changing the way they will be done. One Cast member said it was effective on 9/9/02 another said on 9/16/02 so not sure who is right but they both said that reservations will now be done like dinner shows. Made over the phone with a credit card and for a set price. The cast member said she "thought" the price was from $25-$35 depending on which resturant you choose. Choices were--Momma Melrose, Hollywood & Vine or Brown Derby. She said you just call the WDW-DINE # and place the reservations. We did not ask what brought about the change.

Hope this helps,

April

But there are several long threads on this subject already and many poeple are boycotting the packages. We have set up a package but if we can do the walk in we will cancel the package.

Can you do the package as a walk-in? This new thing has me so confused. The more I read about it the worse it gets!

I was worried about getting into Fantasmic when we went in late August, but the CM at the reservations kiosk assured me that it should be no problem to walk in. I also hate waiting in line and wondered if giving up the dinner package would work for us. We planned to get there early and eat from whatever vendors we found to pass the time, which worked wonderfully! We arrived at the Fantasmic entrance at about 6:40 for an 8:30 show and were among the first there, sitting in the Mickey/Scar section less than halfway up from the front. The kids loved watching the people and the vendors, and ate hot dogs and popcorn as we waited. We also struck up conversations with others nearby and had a great time comparing all our vacations so far. I had no problem with any part of this, and would not bother with a dinner package in the future as long as we were there during a less busy time of the year. We had incredible seats, a tolerable wait, and spent a lot less money than we would have (for a lesser vantage point).
