What am I missing?

$56.99 for Hollywood & Vine for an adult for the dinner package for 2016.
$44.99 for Mama Melrose for the adult dinner package for 2016

Going with my (then) 8 year old son in early December. Mama Melrose is an old favorite of mine from yeas and years ago. I love the ambiance and always found the food pretty decent (and am reading it still is).

Am i missing something?

Mama Melrose:
Mussels: $11.99
Steak: $32.99
Dessert Sampler: $5.49
Cappuccino: $4.39 (can you drink water with dinner and get coffee with dessert for your beverage?)

(yes that is what I would order, not just based on price!)

$54.86 worth of food for $44.99

Hollywood & Vine:
Buffet: $46.99

$46.99 worth of food for $53.99

and $42.99 for a KID buffet vs. $17.99 for a kid at Mama Melrose?

What am I missing here?!?!?!

At H&V you're paying for the character meal.

If you do not care about the characters, the value will be higher at MM.

Maybe I have just always chosen better value character meals then. Or they have gone up a lot in price!

They're charging premium at H&V because of the Minnie's Seasonal. Character collectors will want pictures with all the seasonal costumes.

As PPs have stated, you are paying a premium for the combination of Fantasmic and the characters. It is among the higher priced character meals. Here is the current list of character meals/buffets/AYCTE meals, along with prices.
