Fantasmic Dinner Package Changes

Thanks - an update, I have managed to book for 3pm. I'm looking upon it as a late lunch. This means I won't miss the parade at 5pm

When I called the other day about the Fantasmic Dinner Pkg. for BD they told me 3 or 3:45p. Keep in mind that BD tends to have a 15 to 20-minute wait and we've never been through a meal there within an hour.
We still like the food.

YES! You can! 1 TS unless you eat at the Brown Derby...it's 2 TS.

We did the Fantasmic dinner package. We used the entrance where you rent the strollers from. It is a long long long walk up a very big hill. (Who said there are no mountains in Florida?) We went to the assigned seating area and waited for about one hour. The weather turned bad and they canceled the show. It was our only night to see it because our park hopper pass was all used up. Then we went back and had dinner at the 50's Prime Time Cafe. We used the entrance next to Beauty and the Beast Theatre. It was very short walk and we had great seating and saw a great show. I have done it two more times since, so we do not use the dinner package now.

Does anyone know what is the earliest time I could possibly book the Fantasmic Dinner Package? I'm looking at booking for May 1st, but wouldn't want to miss the afternoon parade either. Thanks

I just booked HBD this morning and I asked for the earliest for dinner, I was given 3:30.

I think that's when they open for dinner. They close briefly between their lunch and dinner service.

Saw a question a few pages back about the DDE card at H&V for the dinner package.

Someone said that you cannot use the DDE card but H&V is listed on the DDE plan. Why can't we use it there?

What time do we need to make reservations to be able to enjoy dinner and make the show? We have not eaten at any of the mentioned places, whats your favorite?

Yes, they finally added the Fantasmic packages to the DDP.

When you call to make reservation, they will only give you a small window of times for the package, and it's usually 2 hours before the show. They are the ones who tell you the few times you have to choose from.

H&V is great with little ones; it's the cheapest and a buffet
MM is nice Italian food. I enjoyed it but it's more then H&V
BD takes 2 sit down meal credits. I've never eaten there.

They are metal bleacher seats with no backs.

There is ONE WAY to help your back (actually 2). The CM's 'direct' traffice, if you will, into the seating areas once the theatre is opened. They start at CENTER and fill from BOTTOM to TOP. Then they move over to LEFT OF CENTER and repeat, then RIGHT of CENTER, repeat, back to 2nd left and so on. The package seating is to the FAR RIGHT of CENTER, but if you get into the seating area early enough, very sweetly ask a CM if you can sit in the following spot(s):

On the BACK ROW just left of and just right of the CENTER section are 2 cement pillars. They are about 2 1/2 seats in width and IF you ask nicely and explain your problem, you may be allowed to sit on the benches directly in front of these - thus giving you something to lean back on during the performance.

Keep in mind, these seats are in the HANDICAP rows and at the very top. But, you don't have to walk up & down the stairs, you get a head start on the crowd when the show is over, and the view is just great.

We were the first arrivals with our package seating and they were just fine with our choice of seating. We chatted with a lovely female CM for over 30 minutes while she 'herded' many other guests to their seats. I say herded because MANY of these people were pushing, shoving, demanding and some were down-right rude trying to get to what they percieved as the 'best' seats. Those that asked NICELY were, without exception, allowed to sit where they wished - except for handicapped seating.

CMs try not to fill that area until just before the show begins. However, in my opinion, a bad back IS a handicap. Though I would certainly have moved if someone with disability needed our seating, by the time the show began there were many other seats available and people moved over into the vacancies from other sections.

I must admit, it REALLY helped me to be able to lean back and enjoy the show. I think they should rent (if they don't by now) those little cushion seats with backs that we get at the baseball parks. Wouldn't THAT be nice?

You are entirely welcome. And having hubby sit behind is not a bad idea at all. If you have a little travel pillow, stuff it in your carry bag for that day, or you can put it in a locker by the MGM gas station. Since that is where you go to enter for the dinner packages, you can grab it up just before you head up the l-o-n-g hill to the theatre.

Tell your hubby I guarantee that you WILL get wet sitting in the front few rows. You also will be turning your heads left and right a lot because there is so much happening. Those are two of the biggest reasons we prefer sitting at the top - everything is in full few and I don't freeze to death from getting wet. Okay, I am a wimp when it comes to water rides, too! I HATE being splashed with water - never take showers, warm soaks in the tub only - can't stand having my water hit my face - don't swim - okay, guess you get the point!

Enjoy your trip - wherever you sit! It is a wonderful experience.
